Leafs @ Jets - Oct. 19th, 8:00pm - SN, TSN 1050

I still enjoyed it. So there.

Yeah. Good hockey. Great story for the Jets franchise on their big night.

Good for the young Leafs to see a team that's a couple of steps ahead of them and what it takes in this league to win. You learn for more from defeat than undeserved victory.

Our kids made some very nice plays that just didn't find the back of the net. They kept some possessions alive that would normally have been clean turnovers. Lots of good signs; lots to work on too.

Matthews was gassed on that breakaway. Good play because it's OT but you could see that rush the other way coming.

Matthews and Nylander were both on the ice for just over a minute there, and were skating hard all shift. Definitely gassed at that point.

Still no shut down defense. It is going to be long season yet again.
It'll be a long season if all that matters is wins and losses and points but I don't know how you can look at this young team and not be both excited and entertained.

They may end up with way less points then say the 06-07 Leafs (basically pick any of those post lockout/9th place teams) but I'd take this team any day of the week. I'm thoroughly enjoying it.

These interviews with Laine are awful. So forced by the media.

Not watching, but from his ones earlier you could tell to the Jets have taught him not to say anything interesting anymore.

I did not like the penalty call in the last minute, there was all kinds of plays where there should of been called.

I only blame the OT goal on Andersen.

I think there are better things he could have done on the 1st and 4th goals but the issue right now on Andersen is that he's got to be able to do something to prove he is above and beyond what the Leafs could have done in Free Agency(or cheaper options on the trade market).

Through 3 I haven't seen a lot of it. If we wanted a goalie who would have let in the tough ones and stopped most of the others there were free agents who would have done that.

Babs gonna be a little uneasy about how they gave up that lead.

Can't make 'em pay for it though.  They go again tomorrow night in Minny.

This is what a team does with a half dozen rookies in the lineup.  At times they look unstoppable and at times they can't get the puck out.

Still need a partner for reilly...should be #1 priority by the end of the season.

On the somewhat nice symmetrical front, it seems like the first three games highlighted each of the three forwards. Matthews was gangbusters in the first, Marner looked great in the second and tonight Nylander showed off some pretty neat skills.

So like busta said, we have plenty of evidence to be excited for the team's future but anyone who thinks the team is there?  Fakakta, as my people would say.

I thought he played just fine until giving up the tying goal.  He was way out of position there.

(I realize that this sounds a lot like what we used to say about Bernier.)

But I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for a good while.

What a joke this arena is, sorry that I'm a Leafs fan, then Ducks fan and jets third. No reason to get sucker punched in overtime at the entrance to my section when Laine scores. The usher was looking at us to keep us from entering the area during play which is fine, but when that happened and they said they saw nothing is pathetic.

Unfortunately as a Leafs fan I would've put money on Laine scoring the tying and winning goals when it was 4-3... there'll be games like this with that many kids in the line-up but that was a tough one to swallow.

Hopefully the kids can change the usual "gut-punch" narrative some time soon.

That one stung, being a later game and ending that way was a little rough.

Good for Laine, but the media is going to be insufferable for the next few days.

I fell asleep at 2-0 up. But I felt we didn't really deserve to be 2-0 up and fully expected that Winnipeg would have got something from the game.

Disappointed that we got 4-0 up and threw it away though, but, learning curve.

That really sucks. Are you okay?
