Gardiner, not Percy, sits.

Haha.

I think Percy has been better.

The other option was Robidas, or Franson I guess.

Robidas only played 13:33 against Pittsburgh, Gardiner play 9 and a half more minutes than he did, and he led the team in ice-time. How do you go from that to a healthy scratch?

I don't think whether a player has been better over 2 games at the start of the season should really dictate taking out a very good player.  If you have to play Percy, could go with 7 D.  Gardiner was arguably their best defenseman last season.

Didn't that happen to someone (maybe even Gardiner) last season too?  Played them the highest minutes one night and scratched the next.  Maybe I'm remembering wrong.

So if the Leafs go something like 1-8-1 in their first ten, and he keeps making random scratches likw that, there has to be a change of coaching, right?

City TV guys look very comfy in their little studio.

Just more Carlyle being Carlyle.

I would like to hear that conversation with Shanahan.

"So why is Jake a healthy scratch?"

"Well we don't think he's been playing very well."

"Then why did you play him more than any other player last night?  Are you saying you were giving heavy minutes to a player you thought was playing poor enough to be taken out of the lineup?"

*blank stare*

Yeah the Rangers are doing their home opener introduce every individual player on the roster onto the ice thing delaying face off

Honestly. The only way benching Gardiner is a good decision is if he got a little banged up last night

I'd really like it if we start evaluating Clarkson as a regular player and not based on his play last year moving forward now.  He's looked a lot better than last year in that he's not falling over every time someone skates near him, but I'm still finding him to be pretty useless at receiving cross-ice passes.

His play down low in the offensive zone has been pretty good and I do like that he has been working hard in front of the net on the 2nd powerplay unit.  At the same time, I find that he's a bit of a puck sink though as he gets tunnel vision and doesn't really look to find his teammates so much as try to force plays.

He looks more like a hard-working 3rd liner than the useless idiot from last season. Still doubt he breaks 30 points in more than 1 or 2 seasons during the length of his contract.

So, has anyone actually seen any of the supposed changes to the system in action? I know it takes time for teams to adjust to things and all, but, I have not seen anything that even resembles a change or even an attempt to adjust to a change. I've seen a lot of the same garbage from last season.
