Kessel gets slashed.  Refs don't call a penalty.  He chirps both officials and gets an unsportsmanlike penalty.

If the refs do their job in the first place, that never happens.

And Winnik's penalty was for...

Just like the Pittsburgh game, these ref's BLOW

Slashing a player without the puck I guess. Slashing a player with the puck, who's on a PP, isn't a penalty apparently.

Neither are cross-checks or hits after the whistle.

Credit to the Wild. They blocked the passing lanes and made it hard for the Leafs to play their game.

Kadri and Lupul out showed IMO (which it should).

Leafs top line had a CF% of 37.6% at even-strength, rest of the team was at 56.9%.

The bottom-9 forwards were at 61.1%.

So playing the top line for half the game wasn't a sound strategy?

I guess in a one goal game, with Kadri and Lupul out, there wasn't much choice but to overplay them if they were looking to get a point out of it.

On the flipside, it says something about the quality of the first line, so perhaps some juggling was needed.

We out played them and out shot them and lost. Bernier gave it away.

The team only manages one goal and somehow it's the goalie's fault the team lost?

Especially when the top line was particularly awful in terms of possession. The Wild had the puck almost 2/3 of the time they were on the ice at even strength. The Leafs' depth players outplayed the Wild's depth players, but, Minnesota's best players outplayed Toronto's. Not gonna win many games when that happens - especially when a huge chunk of the team's scoring depth is hurt.

I mean, I missed the 3rd period so I watched the game in 6 and if anything, the only reason this game was 1-0 going into the 3rd was the play of Bernier. He made some absolute highlight reel saves in the 1st.

A loss tonight and wins by the Rangers and Panthers this weekend could see the Leafs fall out of a playoff spot by Monday.

Game-winner wasn't great, but he didn't stand a chance on the other two. I think maybe we're used to only equating great goalie performances to when somebody makes 35+ saves. Anybody blaming him is insane.

It was a soft goal, which IMO made the team play a different way. He should of had that goal and the out come would of been likely different. At least one point possibly. It was the first game in about 10 which the team out shot an opponent. They deserved better. It should of started with Bernier making that save
