Lightning @ Leafs - Jan. 2nd, 7:00pm - SNO, Fan 590

We're starting to see the big loss that losing Zaitsev is. Everyone gets bumped up and it shows.

Zaitsev is hardly a rock defensively. The bigger issue is that the team seems to be tired and a little beat up. Also guys like Komarov and Polak continue to get significant icetime despite being pretty brutal at both ends of the ice.

I don't disagree with this. I am also a big fan of Brayden Point, who is the player I dreamed Tyler Bozak would have been if developed properly.

Tampering accusation in 3... 2...

Strange, I would say.  Moore has been really good in his role, IMO.

It's funny, opinion on Moore seems to be pretty split. I think he's been fine-to-good as a 4C. I've liked the speed he brings, which isn't something that we'll see with Gauthier.

One interesting thing though is that the Martin-Moore-Brown has put up some pretty awful possession numbers this season. In 45 minutes of 5-on-5 play (which admittedly isn't a ton), they're rocking a 30.7% CF rate.

How much do that is really on Moore though.  We are playing a very fast team and just inserted a slow as molasses guy into the lineup.

Man this Johnny Bower tribute is well done. Bringing out all those family members, tearing up here.

I'm not a fan of Bowen as PbP man but that was beautiful.  Just perfect.

And no offense to the young anthem singer, but doing them as intsrumentals/sing alongs is the capping classy move.

And kudos to Babcock for saying a few words to Mrs. Bower as she leaves the ice.

See I thought that because the Tampa Bay Lightning are the more talented team that the Leafs would end up with more power plays this game, but that does not seem to be the case.  I thought that was just the parity rule or something.
