Amazon have got some of the champions league football here in the UK and they’ve been pushing the fact they have some new technology that cuts the latency. On a bit of a whim I decided to subscribe to Sportsnet+ this season through the Amazon Prime app instead of the Sportsnet app, and the video quality even on that seems better than what I've experienced over the years of using the Sportsnet app. Significantly less of a delay between the live game and the broadcast too.
I hate that all the broadcasts are split up right now but once the the current TV deal expires if Amazon can somehow secure a massive streaming deal at least I'd be all for that.
This wasn’t where I initially heard it, but it’s mentioned in this report
'Under 10 seconds latency' and ML-created highlights: Prime Video is ready for Champions League kick-off - TVBEurope
Prime Video is using low-latency technology across "the majority of devices", delivering live action from grass to glass in under 10 seconds, which it claims is faster than cable or satellite television
