I'd like to see Frattin with Grabovski and MacArthur and Kulemin with Connolly and Kadri. I think it more evenly distributes the size and grit, making the lines more balanced.

Maybe, but, Connolly and MacArthur have shown some good chemistry between them, so, I'd be inclined to keep them together.

I was surprised that Liles (24th with 69) and Gunnarson (16th with 75) had the most blocked shots on the team.

That's no good. Liles was on pace to match his career high in points.

The Hockey gods are still punishing us, I wonder when they will stop it and let us have our glory back.

Lombardi is waiting for the coaches clearance - claims he's ready to go. Which means someone would have to be sent down when that happens. Boyce?

Unless the team is ready to cut ties with Orr, probably. Boyce is lowest on the totem pole and, well, he really hasn't provided much of anything in his 3 games - certainly not enough to warrant a spot ahead of a proven NHLer like Lombardi.

I really hope Lombardi can avoid Peter Regin'ing it up... coming back for a week then re-injury his shoulder and requiring season ending shoulder surgery.  I fear that is going to happen.

Boyce has to go down though.  Hopefully Lombardi was able to work on his conditioning.  I feel for the guy.  A full year out, rushing a training camp, then injuring his shoulder.  Hopefully it's smooth sailing for him from here on out.  Would be nice to see what a good summer can do for him.

Orr should go. Boyce has been one of the better Leafs. Injects much needed energy. He deserves to stay IMHO. Lombardi didn't do much post-concussion. In fairness to him, I suspect it will be next year before we see any significant rebound.

Here are two things I'd do tomorrow morning if I were Burke (I assume that's when his holiday moratorium comes off):

1.  Release Colton Orr.  It's obvious he's not needed and is basically not going to play.  I like Orr and think he's been a good heavyweight who actually plays halfway decent hockey for a player in his role.  But for his own good he should not be exposed to another concussion and, in any event, the goon is on the way out in this league -- of that, I am convinced.

2.  Bring up Zigomanis and put him in charge of the PK.  Give him an A and tell him he is only job is to get the PK going in the right direction.  Dangle a 1-way $2M contract if the PK increases by 15%.  (That would have been a hell of a lot better way to spend money than to pay Wilson for another year.)

Incidentally, we have really missed Brown on the PK.  He would be leading by freaking example, I can tell you that.

Releasing players under the current CBA isn't exactly a cut-and-dry task, otherwise a dozen players would have been released by this point in the season, league-wide.

I take perverse pride in not knowing the ins and outs of the CBA, but whatever you need to do to free up Orr's spot, do it.  I'm sure it can be done somehow.

I'm fine with the Orr part; not sure it accomplishes much as he's not hurting the team while on the bench and it's not my money that pays his salary.

I don't even remotely understand why you would give Zigomanis an alternate captain designation. I'm fine with bringing him up and trying him on the penalty kill. I'm not overly confident it'll change anything, but why not try?

I wouldn't mind seeing the lineup revamped a bit with Kadri on the top line and maybe Grabovski on the wing:

Lupul        Kadri        Kessel
Kulemin    Connolly  Grabovski
Frattin      Bozak      McArthur
Brown      Steckel      Crabb
