Probably doesn't matter much.  Armstrong is about as fragile as they come so Kadri is bound to be back soon.

Truly though, Kadri has been laying people out and playing well.  I don't think Armstrong brings any more to this line-up (except leadership maybe) even when he is healthy.  He Connolly just aren't very good anymore.

Connolly is fine. IMO is playing on the wrong line. He is not meant to be a checking line centre.

Rosehill is far too valuable to be cut, he needs to soak up those press box minutes.

I'm hardly a fan of Rosehill, but this really shouldn't be about Kadri vs. Rosehill.

I'm not making it about Kadri vs. Rosehill, I'm making it that Rosehill is taking up an NHL roster spot that should be used for an actual NHL player.

Fair enough. If when Boyce returns he or Crabb go down to the Marlies and Rosehill stays on the roster then I'll be the first one causing an uproar.

But in this situation, Kadri made the most sense to send down. It's that or the pressbox for him.

I think Connolly can be a good 2nd line center he just hasn't much time in that role.  He's not very noticeable on the 3rd line and looked a bit lost on the 1st line, but I think he had decent chemistry on the 2nd line (with Mac I think?) while Grabbo was injured.  The problem for Connolly is that Grabs is too awesome to displace from the 2nd line spot.  Unfortunately for him it was 1st line or bust here and he just wasn't quite up to it.

I am not sure how it makes sense to send Kadri down.  Kadri can play 10 minutes per game and have a chance to score.  Rosehill can fight once, and play 3 more shifts and do nothing good for the team.  Kadri would have helped the team more than Rosehill during the last turds game, so why not send down Rosehill?

Again, this has nothing to do with Rosehill vs. Kadri. Say we sent Rosehill down, somebody would still need to come out of the line-up for Armstrong, and that player would likely have been Kadri. If he better served replacing Rosehill's spot in the pressbox or going to the AHL and getting top-minutes?

As I've explained a few times already, sending Kadri down was the only option available (other than Gardiner) to activate Liles and Armstrong for tonight's game - assuming, of course, Burke could not get a trade processed before noon today and that decision was made after the waiver cut off yesterday (both pretty fair assumptions, as we saw no trade and, as of noon yesterday, neither player was supposed to play in either game against Pittsburgh). The Leafs needed to clear 2 roster spots and some cap space to make that happen. Everyone else on the roster (other than Aulie who was also sent down) would have to clear waivers and could not be sent down to the Marlies until after noon tomorrow. It's really as simple as that. Add in what Carlton just added and the decision is really beyond obvious.

#MapleLeafs have sent Nazem Kadri and Keith Aulie to the #Marlies.#NHL #AHL

Good news I guess.  Well Liles is certainly good news.  A good, healthy Army is also but who knows, we've barely seen him play this year.

I really hope Naz will cement a spot on the team soon.

I honestly thought Naz did enough to stay, at least for 3rd line minutes.  I guess not?

I know.

And I understand they are completely different, and its nice to have Browns 'sandpaper' in the lineup, but really, what has he done lately?  Nothing.  Dont even see the guy.

You missed his big hit?

Wilson says David Steckel just sore after blocking a shot on Wed; should be good to go v Sens

mirtle: Reimer will start tomorrow in Ottawa.

mirtle: And Wilson says the defence pairings remain the same, meaning Komisarek will sit again.

Komi's the guy that needs to be traded, you know it, I know and everybody else should probably know it also. Every other defenseman we have has a place on this team IMO.

That's obvious, but he's also the hardest contract to unload.

I'm still of the thought that Burke has way more bargaining power here with his last two years at 3.5 million a pop or whatever. I still say he's able to be moved, that has to have value to a team that is looking for defense, but can't spend the total cap hit.

That's where you play the salary cap game.  Komisarek has 2 years left and can't be sent down, maybe another team takes him and sends back a guy with more than 2 years left who can be sent down, but that team isn't willing to just eat money like the Leafs can.  So we take a guy back with 4 years left on a deal, he doesn't work out and you send him down and eat the money.
