Lou Will Not Return

Already working.

Unless he resigned from the Leafs and they didn't announce it, how is this legal that he was still working for the Leafs but representing the Islanders while talking to Tavares?

Depending on the conversation, I don't think you need to be officially hired yet (or resigned).

For example, someone looking for a new job (while currently employed) goes in for an interview and it gets to the stage where he or she meets all the higher ups and important folk. In this case, John Tavares is important folk.

I don't think it was a contract negotiation for Tavares. And I'm pretty sure the Leafs have given Lou (and Hunter) permission to pursue other courses if they wish. Honestly, it would be better for Dubas to not have those names looming silently around him and give him an opportunity to install his down people.

This is Lou we're talking about, is there any doubt in anyone's mind that shenanigans were going on here?

Meh.  Lou did some good things and some not so good things in Toronto.  His deadline moves this season were questionable. It's only a matter of time before he goes senile if he has not done so already.  We are in good hands with Kyle Dubas.  And perhaps he will do even better unconstrained.

You?re a total dick.

Why speak about the man like that?

I?m not a huge fan, but senile, really?

I?d hazard he?s shed more IQ points over his lifetime than you?ve ever owned.

Sincerely, go fuck yourself.

Seriously? Calling a 70 something year old guy senile is so horrible? I would say your responses are worse. And I'm not surprised. You guys have your little clique on here and you talk down to everyone else. It must suck having such fragile egos and being so insecure.

Yes. You don't know him, and there's been nothing made public to indicate that he's even remotely close to becoming senile. Don't try to dismiss your ageism by blaming the reaction of a group reasonable people as being part of a "little clique."

You made a stupid comment. Accept it. Apologize for it. Move on. Don't try to shirk the blame, like you always do.

Sorry to burst your bubble and your hate fest guys but the brain slows down with age, that is a fact.

Brain slowing down and senility are not the same thing, but, nice try. Keep digging.

According to this they once were:

I apologize for my ignorance. I did think they were the same thing.

Everyone who doesn?t agree with you is part of a clique. Always. Have you considered that what you say is usually nonsensical and argumentative? Honestly, get a f?in clue.

Anyone else pick up on this as soon as it was reported that he met with Tavares?

Not a chance they'd let him meet with Tavares unless he had signed on the dotted line.

I just looked through all of my recent posts and not one of them was nonsensical or argumentative.

I will also tell you I have posted on countless forums and not once have I had a problem anywhere but here.  There was even a thread created on here not long ago talking about the same problem.  It's real.  I received a number of PMs from a variety of people talking about their experiences also.  So you can blame me or say whatever BS you want, but the fact remains that there is a core group of you guys on here that creates a toxic environment for the rest of us.  You either ignore what the rest of us say or you talk down to us or point out any "flaw" you can find in our posts, similar to what you have just done.

My comment about Lou was tongue-in-cheek.  A bit of a joke really.  Perhaps that was tough to pick up on just by reading my post.  Perhaps it was a bad joke.  But good God you guys just showed me why I generally stay away from this place.  You guys can have each other.  It reminds me of that old saying "birds of a feather flock together".  The sad news for this forum is that it's keeping all the nice people away.

I can't help but wonder if Lou taking another job so quickly isn't maybe a sign that the transition here maybe wasn't as smooth as we'd like to think and if there maybe wasn't a bit more of a push out the door than the "orderly 3 year plan" might indicate. It seems like he certainly thinks he's still capable of running a team and you can't help but think he'd have wanted to see things through here.

I don?t want to get drawn into a back and forth on this, but is the guy who called someone senile really playing the victim card here?

Dude, my reaction might have been over the top, but why aren?t you holding your hands up and admitting fault here? Is being right on the internet that important to you?

Never mind the fact your comments about Lou were in extremely bad taste, did it cross your mind that many of the posters here probably have older family members dealing with diminished mental faculties?

Your comment was uncalled for and insensitive and your subsequent attempt to play it off as tongue in cheek while you break out your victim schtick is pretty poor form.

Honestly, if you don?t like the place, you know where the door is.

That?s a fair point I think.

Shanahan might have seen it as sticking to the plan, but Lou clearly still has the bug for the big job.
