Snow lasted a lot longer in that job than most people thought he would.

He also lasted a lot longer than he really should have.

I obviously can't defend all of Snow's decisions but I think he did a reasonably good job considering he was probably dealing with the most chaotic arena/ownership situation in the league.

Assuming Wikipedia info is correct, over the course of 12 seasons, they've had 4 playoff appearances, 3 of which were first round exits (the 4th being a second round exit).

They haven't had a team during that time that was considered a contender, either.

I wouldn't call that reasonably good regardless of ownership situation.

Well, you're certainly free to your interpretation but blaming him for those first few years where he's A) A first time exec and B) cleaning up one of the worst GMing performances of all time by Mike Milbury strikes me as a little unfair. Look at the roster he inherited and tell me how quickly it would have taken an excellent GM to get into the playoffs.

Just to build on this, I also think Weight did a creditable job as coach.

Their game plan was get Tavares or Barzal the puck, and then... ?\_(ツ)_/?

Gonna miss Lou's non-interviews.

So glad we don't have to put up with this anymore.

I wonder if he makes Trotz shave his goatee.

He made Burns shave his mustache.

lol

He didn't "turn around" the Leafs. He just held the steering wheel for a little while after Shanny got them back on course.

?There?s no question if you look at [Komarov?s] contract you might say ?you?re overpaying for a player.? I haven?t met a player that we haven?t overpaid for,? Lamoriello said with a chuckle.

I knew Lou would take the departure of Tavares fairly badly, but I didn't expect him to start hitting the heavy drugs at this stage in his life.  :-\

Give Lou credit he was at the helm for the departure of Phaneuf, the acquisition of Andersen, and the extensions of Kadri, Reilly, Hyman and Brown. Read the attached I think overall an impressive performance. The Shannaplan to date has been spectacular including Lou. His mentorship to Dubas should be considered as well.

I think Lou had a lot of say while running the Leafs, but it was carefully curated/mitigated by the brain trust for the most part. Now we are seeing him with the Shanashackles off and it is glorious.

Making money disappear and giving out reasonable extensions is counter balanced by his bad moves like the 7 year Zaitsev deal, Matt Martin and Roman Polak.  I mean Lou didn't make any disastrous moves while here but he also had Shanahan to answer to.

The core of the team, that is the most important players that will bring this team success outside of Andersen had nothing to do with Lou. Marner, Nylander, Kadri, Gardiner, Rielly, Johnsson, Kapanen, Brown were all already in the organization. Matthews was the lottery win, could we have finished last without Lou? Maybe.
