Making Sense of the Leafs D

I think Komisarek brings attributes the Leaf fans take for granted because we already have some big heavy hitters.  That being said, he's become a spare part because other's are better.  A trade would make the most sense, but don't expect Burke to rush.

Burke did an amazing job in the Lebda trade, I have faith that he can do it again! ;)

A lot of people seems to view it like it's a given that Liles is only around for one year because we have all these young d-men. I really like what he brings to the team - a different style than all the rest, except Gardiner. I'd personally like to hang on to him, if he proves to be responsible defensively over the season. He and Gardiner would be very effective PP 1 and 2 from the left side.

That could very well happen. If Liles has a good first half and Leaf brass decide to use some of the teams defensive depth in trades ( almost seems impossible to avoid one way or another to me ) well, you never know.

The Leafs have negotiating rights and Liles seems to like Toronto so far ( we'll see ). He doesn't have a complete ntc and so could also be moved for something significant at the deadline should Liles suddenly hate it here or be unreasonable ( read 'test the free agent waters', Mississippi moon and all... )
