Marlies Talk 15/16 - Is Sheldon worth Keefe'n around?

Ratings are way down, if they bring Willie to the Leafs wouldnt you tune it to see him? Thousands of others will as well. And what are they losing as Marlies are so far ahead they are basically guaranteed #1 spot. When the Leafs are finished Will goes back to the Marlies to lead them to victory in the Calder Cup

The Leafs management won't be swayed by potential ratings. If they call him up it'll be because they think it's the best move for his development.

I wouldn't be against the move. They could stagger his and marner's contract negotiations, especially if Marner spends next year's pre-deadline in the OHL before coming up.

Not a fan of bringing up Nylander if it's going to burn a year of his entry level contract, and possibly hamper the free fall.

Marlies beat the 2nd best team in the league this afternoon 4-0, despite missing arguably their 4 best players. Lindberg scored his first 2 goals as a Marlie. Gauthier and Arcobello with the others. Line-up was as follows:

Leivo-Arocbello-Frattin
Leipsic-Findlay-Brown
Lindberg-Smith-Carrick
Clune-Gauthier-Kurtz

Brennan Holl
Campbell Valiev
Loov Percy

Bibeau

A look at what the Marlies might look like in the Calder Cup playoffs.
Not included here, but they'll probably have their pick of the Jnr kids if their seasons are finished.

Leivo - Nylander - Kapanen
Leipsic - Arcobello - Brown
Soshnikov - Gauthier - Hyman
Smith/Clune - Carrick - Lindberg

Percy - Brennan
Loov - Carrick
Valiev - Campbell

Bibeau
Sparks
Stalock

If they get even average goaltending, they'll be the heaviest of favorites to win it all.

...and that's even missing Frattin. So there's some depth there for sure.

I always wanted to see Matty on Kadri's wing even if it was just for a game. LOL. Not to be.
What amazes me is how young and fast and small the players are today, everyone over 27 starting to take Dino status.  Speed kills and the young Leafs have plenty to do the killing!

The Marlies have lost 2 in a row for the 4th time this year.  They also trail 3-0 in the 2nd period.  This would be their first 3-game losing streak if they cant make a comeback.

Yeah. Not really too surprising considering the players promoted off that club. It should be a real fun team to watch when the Nylander's and Soshnikovs come back for the playoff run. That is the plan, right?

Just checked back. It's now 4-3 Utica. 10mins left in the 3rd.

Valiev recalled.

When was the last time we had two Russians in the lineup?

Looks like most likely 2001-02, Mogilny and Yushkevich.

But possibly 2005-06 when we had everyone's favourite players Alexander Khavanov and Alexander Suglobov, but Sugo only played 3 games so they might not have overlapped with Khavanov. Same in 2003-04 when we had Mogilny and Maxim Kondratiev, who only played 7 games.

Thanks, Carlton. Is it weird that I remember Suglobov (3 games) more than Khavanov (nearly 40 games)?
