I think the US would have won that after the first set of shooters had they used Kane instead of the second two shooters (JVR and Pavelski?).

I dunno -- JVR has been incredible this year for the leafs in the shootout.  Has Kane been better this year?

Kane is 1 for 11 in NHL shootouts this year, and he's now 1 for 13 if you include the 2 penalty shots today.

Not particularly surprised. Canada dominated both games against Finland and the U.S., but Finland had much more structured D and collapsed well into that 5 man box that eliminates chances in the preliminary rounds.

Kessel and JVR are good players, no doubt, but neither showed much against two games with truly solid defencemen.

It wasn't just those two...

Yeah they were fine, Kessel moreso than JVR but still, the entire US team didn't show much against Canada, and Finland is tough too.  I know it's a Leafs perspective on this site, but it's not really fair to single them out as not showing up - it was team-wide, and Kessel showed more than the majority of the team IMO.

it seems for some teams its gold or bust and they don't give it their all for the bronze medal game.  Finland seems to have the same game plan every time and tries to get the highest medal they can.  Kudos to the Finns.

I have an early rising four year old.
So, no.

But it'll probably be a battle over the hockey game, Wubbzy, or maybe Handy Manny if I'm lucky.

Lol, Sedin, Zetterberg and Backstrom...our top 3 centers...wohoo

Migraine headache for Backstrom. It would be one hell of a win for Sweden if they could still pull it off without those three centers.
