MLSE part ways with Masai Ujiri

This has been coming for awhile. Masai will always be a legend here. Masai has been in here since 2013 and was entering the final year of his contract. Bobby Webster is the GM now and Masai was probably ready to move on to another opportunity.

The more recent moves by the Raptors have been questionable, or at least seem like they were a little mismanaged. All the best to Masai. He brought Toronto a chip.

why immediately following the draft? Why not 2 months ago when the team was eliminated?

I would assume this was mutually agreed upon. Masai probably wanted to move on to other challenges as much as Ed Rogers wanted him out. I don't think it's concerning Masai is out nor is it surprising. Other organizations have been courting Masai for at least the last 5 years.

Also, I don't get all the Ed Rogers hate. Sure it's easy to hate a nepo-baby billionaire but he was part-owner for the 2019 championship team and has moved the Toronto Blue Jays into one of the top spending teams in the MLB. I'm not sure what else you'd want (or expect) for a sports owner. Are their better owners? Sure, I mean, I guess. Aside from being more likeable the guy seems to want to win and not just maximize profits. None of the Leafs problems I would attribute to Rogers' meddling ownership.

This is why I don't feel good about pellet's "office restructuring" in Toronto. It's not that th concept is bad...I'm concerned it's financially drive from a Rogers

I think there's definitely an element of that. It was rumoured Ed Rogers wasn't happy about the amount of money Masai was being paid. To me, it seemed like an ego thing rather than a financial thing. Time will tell if there is a need for a President between the GM's of the Raptors and Leafs and Pelley.

After doing a bit of digging, looks like Atlanta is/was very interested.
