coming from a guy who doesn't buy much nhl games do you people see a point in buying it every year?  Just wondering because I'm thinking of getting it but I might just get nhl11 for much cheaper and play that.  Would the nhl11 have a roster update?

The last update did not have the newest players on it.  The last update that I did was just this week.  So, you'll be missing out on that.  If you haven't bought in a while, I'd get NHL12.

Roger that - this years version is actually much improved as far as gameplay goes.
NHL 11 is alot cheaper and if you just want a hockey game to play and dont care so much then go for it - but you'd be missing out if you really enjoy the details.

Picked it up for free today, traded in a couple wii games that haven't been in my sytem in a couple years and got NHL 12 for $0.

Where? And how do you know what your trade in value is for your games?

There a list of eligible games at the top of the linked page, any 2 of those.

Ok, looking at the Xbox 360 games you can trade in, and they have the price they sell them for as well, 9.99 for some, so can't I just go buy 2 games for 9.99 on the list, goto my car, open them, go back in and trade them for NHL 12?

Or if you were to take the games in for store credit, is that the amount they'd give you?

I looked at the games they have for 9.99, didn't see any of those on the list of eligible games.

FutureShop will take only newer games, it looks like. Best Buy will take anything worth $8 or more. Three of them are needed to get NHL12 for free. I'd call in and ask them how much each is worth. I'm hoping NHL11 and Red Dead Redemption are still worth something.

I thought this was kinda neat: http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_daddy/post/How-a-14-year-old-girl-made-NHL-video-game-histo?urn=nhl-wp12363

The 2 wii games I gave in were 3 and 4 years old.

Right, but look at the non-Wii list. 90% of the games on there retail for $59.99 still. Madden 12 is on there and the game just came out!

Yea, it's probably not worth it for most games but I had Smash Bros. and Mario Party 8 gathering dust so free NHL12.

So I picked up NHL 12 about a week ago.  I'm maybe 8 games into the GM mode regular season and of course I'm playing as the Leafs.  I've won 1 game.  I'm playing Allstar mode which is the same as NHL11.  It's soooo much harder to score or even get a shot off.  And does anyone else think they made Reimer suck?  Seems to not recover well after the initial shot.

My favourite part of the game are the names of the players that the announcers mispronounce.

Are there any good ones this year?

I think they're all the same as they have been since Dumb and Dumber started doing the commentary.

Don't get me started on the commentators.  They keep telling me how rich a heritage the Leafs have (every single game) and how they want to be Canada's team, but Montreal is.  Blah garbage.  If Montreal was Canada's team, why are the Leafs on HNIC nation-wide every week?
