Apparently, the kings want Schenn and Frattin...

No thanks...

I don't know, he could be that Lucic-ish type player we could really use.

You know I'm a big fan of these kind of players but it's got to be for the right price... I don't mind expanding the deal to include Schenn and Frattin but just for Brown? I don't know.

Sorry he isn't Lucic-ish type enough for me to give up Schenn and Frattin....not a chance.

Yeah, I'd be more favourable to Schenn and a pick. We already know Frattin has all the tools to be pretty good!

It's true, but I really do wonder about Frattin's potential. I think it could be pretty decent!
I think Frattin could become a Brown type player. He already plays big and if he figures out the scoring thing, he'll be a keeper.

It's certainly more than I'd be willing to part with. Schenn for Brown pretty much straight up, with maybe some minor pieces on either side to massage things a little, is right around fair value.

Just for fun...

Schenn + Frattin + another prospect for Brown + Bernier? That's how I might try to expand this.

I'm against bringing in a vet goalie, and would rather see them stick it out with Reimer and Gus for the rest of this year, but if I were to go after another goalie right now, Bernier would be intriguing.

Not a chance. Bernier has played all of 44 games in the NHL. Ask yourself this before you trade away everything for nothing. Why would LA think about moving their 'Leader' during this playoff push?

I feel like we are beating our heads against a wall for Bernier. He's not proven anything at the NHL level, and the Leafs do not need to take another chance on an unproven goaltender.

Okay, forger Bernier for now... Schenn + Frattin for Brown and + another prospect of Burke's liking? To use Busta's term, there are a lot of ways to "massage" this.

My impression is that the Kings are moving Brown mostly for cap reasons, and to recoup some assets and bodies that they have/are going to ship out.

The other possibility is that they just don't want him to have the C anymore, and don't wanna bother breaking up but still staying friends.  Everybody say "Culture Change!"

As for Bernier - meh.  Until he proves anything, he's a gamble like any other young goalie, and a team in the Leafs' position doesn't trade away futures for gambles.  If they'd take a stupid contract for him, sure, but that's just hoping for stupidity.

Yeah. I mean, the problem is, the only thing that's really going to be available now are unproven guys and guys who have never been put in anything other than a backup role at the NHL level. Bernier, Harding, Bishop, Lindback, Schneider . . . they all have question marks surrounding their ability to be a #1 goalie, and that really limits how much I'd be comfortable giving up to acquire any of them.

Bernier is interesting because he isn't Schneider or Rask (who aren't available), but he isn't Harding or Bishop either. Probably the closest comparable is actually Reimer, young guy with starter potential but not enough experience to actually be a starter yet. Not ideal by any means, but options are very limited now and not likely to improve much in the summer (outside of Schneider maybe being available then).

They may want to fill the hole on D left by Johnson and brown might have the value to get them a young top 4 defenseman, he was playing 22:30 a night with the kings.

No way is Brown Lucic-ish type.  Lucic fights super heavyweights in the league and holds his own, Lucic fights other teams regular heavyweights (like Rosehill, Cody McCormick) and wins.  Dustin Brown can't fight.  He is more like Colby Armstrong where Dustin can crank venerable players and hug people who look to pound him with their fists.

Chris Stewart is a Lucic-ish type player.

I agree.  Frattin can skate, hit and has a great shot.  Frattin hasn't put it all together yet.  That is what Dustin has shown.  I would like to hang on to Frattin.

Now hearing that player <name> might possibly but is probably likely more than not willing to be dealt today, tomorrow or Monday but Sunday wouldn't be ruled out either.  <team name> are making calls and listening.

Things change. Over and over and over again. Publicity can be a factor. Or change of strategy. Or optics. Deadline is 3 p.m. ET Monday. #tsn

IF LAK are no longer considering trading Dustin Brown, as @FriedgeHNIC tweeted, I can most certainly assure you they were. #TradeCentre #tsn
