Official Ottawa Senators Thread

The most recent hockey future organizational rankings had the Sens 19th, for those of you keeping track at home. The Leafs were 20th.

It won't make a huge difference, but that was pre-draft/pre-Nylander.

Nothing sounds tougher then the Red Scarf union. ??? I'm scared.

I await the launching of the purple mitten squad in Phoenix, Montreal hair barrettes battalion and the orange handkerchief brigade in Florida.

Are they still throwing crutches at the ACC?

He's no Curtis Lazar anyway.

What is life like when your favorite hockey team doesn't have the best prospect in the world? How do you do it?

Well, one of the things about being a Leafs fan that differs greatly from being a Sens fan is that there's more than one of us so we can commiserate as a group.

One of the things or the only thing?

Ferret/anyone in this thread, what do you think are realistic pt totals for Karlsson this year?

What kind of effect will Spezza's departure have on the team?

I guess they should still have a decent PP with Turris/Ryan/Mac as the top unit. Who will be the second unit? Zibanejad/Legwand/Chiasson(?)

Don't watch enough Senators but my fantasy draft isn't that far off.

There are other nice things about being a Leafs fan, you know, history, tradition, knowing we're the most popular hockey team in Ottawa.

A healthy Karlsson is good for 70-82 pts - he will be the highest scoring defenseman in the league.

Losing Spezza is going to impact the scoring, face offs, pp minutes and the Turris  / Ryan line now gets to face all the #1 pairing d. But the negative focus / black cloud that always followed Spezza around is gone and it opens up more opportunities  / responsibilities for guys like Zibanejad and obviously the aforementioned Turris. Line 2 could be Zibanejad / Stone / Michalek. Lazar is going to be given every opportunity to make the team but they won't rush him at the same time. Same goes for Matt Puemple & Buddy Robinson. That help?

Methot is a jackass. That's not going to sit well with an old school guy like Murray. See ya later Meth!

Under the circumstances, he's asking for the moon when he knows that the payroll is being tightened (due to budget situation as described by owner Melnyk).

On any other team willing to spend and keep a veteran in a sea of 'raw' blue liners Methot would have been signed.  The Capitals could afford Orpik but then the Capitals arc in a different situation entirely.

Won't be surprised to see Methot and Ryan traded in a package deal.

"I don't want a trade," said Methot. "Everyone knows, it's not a secret I want to play here. I'd been lying if I said otherwise. It's a treat to be able to play in front of my family and my friends. I've always got a ton of positive support from all the fans. Everyone loves I'm from the area and whatnot. I'm happy here. You're playing in Canada and it's fun."

What a monster.

If you told me 3 years ago Methot would be a 5 million dollar player I swear I'd have laughed hysterically in your face.

Yeah. I still don't think he's a guy that's worth that much. It's just not good value for him.
