Official Ottawa Senators Thread

Yeah, listening to the radio, there's some confusion about the starter.  Apparently Auld took most of the shots in practice, but Anderson left the ice first.

Also saying there's a rumour to Borowiecki could make his debut tonight.  Borocop is tough as nails and mean in the minors, be interesting to see how he stacks up against NHLers.

EDIT: Ian Mendes confirms Borowiecki will play tonight.

EDIT2: He also tweets that MacLean confirms Andy as the starter.

4-1 win, very similar to the Leafs game.  Sens come out flat and go down early, Anderson weathers the storm, giving the Sens the chance to come back.  Turris with his second consecutive 1G 1A performance.

How many weak goals did the opposing goaltenders let in that game?  McLean has really figured out how to make opposing goalies whiff on long wrist shots this season, that's something that you can only point to coaching.  I doubt Anderson had to be very good as well.

It's the new NHL - points for losing & goalie spells

We got a little banged up last night - Murray had brought Peterson and Borowiecki up for this road trip but with both Smith <head> and the Daugavins <foot> getting hurt last night Da Costa has been recalled today also. Da Costa has 9G 10A in his 21 AHL games so far...

Hey SP we came up with a nickname of 'Ghost Dog' for Kaspars last night....pretty clever eh. :p

Did you see Daug after the Spezza goal against the Leafs?  Every time he scores (or thinks he scores), he skates by the Sens bench while barking like a dog.  I love that guy.

Da Costa called up because of the injuries, but it sounds like Daugavins and Smith are fine, and will play tomorrow.  Anderson to start again.  Auld still hasn't played this month, I guess we're just gonna ride Anderson's hot streak.

Yeah the Ghost Dog is awesome.
I'm cool with Auld not playing anymore games...

Petersson to make his debut in place of Bobby Butler (and will apparently line up with Spezza).  Carkner back in for Borowiecki, Anderson to start.

Carkner, Petersson out, Borowiecki, Butler in, Anderson to start.

And Dan O'Rourke, the ref that told MacLean he didn't call Getzlaf for tripping because Karlsson is a diver, will be working the game tonight.

Hope we practised our penalty killing.  Dick.

It will be interesting to see what bearing the Goligoski deal will have on Karlsson's contract talks / numbers. I really hope we go for one of those 18 year / 120 M deals with Karlsson- it's the way to go in these new days of the NHL.

I hear a lot more about those deals being horrible mistakes, rather than long term bargain.  I'd expect $6 million a year for 5 years or so.  I think he's definitely going to get paid more than I feel comfortable with.
