I like Connor McDavid, he seems like a nice kid and all, but there may be no team in the NHL I want to see lose more and on a more regular basis than the Oilers.

It's not about petty rivalries or something as relatively insignificant as the cultural divide that represents the Leafs/Canadiens. No, the Oilers remaining in the NHL's basement will maintain my belief some small measure of justice in the universe. No team is a greater embodiment of all that's wrong with Pro Sports today.

Completely agree. I'll go maybe one step further and say that ever since the Oilers got him a small part of me was hoping that McDavid would bust. Not completely bust, just that he wouldn't be the messiah that everyone thought he would be. Based on his play before the injury though it doesn't look like that'll be the case.

Here's to him bolting at 25!

I admire your honesty.  And I share your sense of revulsion at the absurd amount of anointing that goes on by the media.  But he seems like a nice kid and I wouldn't mind if he fulfills expectations.

I could take it down a notch and say that I at least hope they don't win any Stanley Cups with him. The intent was moreso that I didn't want him to single-handedly erase all the stupid that the Oilers did.

But going back to a point I made in the Malkin thread if the Pens could only manage 1 Stanley Cup with him and Crosby then I'm sure it won't be too tough for the Oilers to get none.

Now with all this enviromental talk the Oilers is a dirty reference to the Tar Sands.  Like the Edmonton Smudge Pots.  Lets find a new name for this struggling franchise like the Edmonton Enviromentalists.
I look forward to your suggestions.

Much like the Redblacks they can rename to the OrangeBlues.

I've Googled Bolting and 25, and the only thing that comes up is this guy.

EDIT:  To be honest, I've been secretly rooting for Eichel to come out the better player through all of this. Not because I have anything against McDavid, but just because the Oilers deserve it.  8)
