Nik's Notes

EDM
?For the first time in his young life, Nick Ellis may get the start as it's the second half of back to backs for both teams, Nick is a Maryland product, which seems Nik's Noteworthy
?Unless I'm mistaken, Sunday Night's game marks the first visit to Toronto by the Oilers since Naz fed McDavid his lunch in early November 2016. Or, as this article suggests, the 28th place Oilers may have been in town in late October

TOR
?Kris Russell scored the game winner for us last time, which net he'll be shooting at tonight is a game-time decision.
?Auston Matthews(13g, 13 a, 26 pts)remains a shining example of what a team can do with only 1 first overall pick
?The second night of a back to back would usually mean McElhinney(2-2, 3.00, .900) for us but maybe I shouldn't assume things like that.
?Zaitsev continues to prove himself as a pretty good second pairing defenseman we didn't have to trade Taylor Hall for

Injuries

?Cam Talbot ? Upper Body ? Injured Reserve
? Andrej Sekeraj ? Knee ? Injured Reserve
?Adam Larsson ? Unrealistic Expectations - DTD
Code:

?Nathan Horton - Back - Out indefinitely, possibly dead
?Joffrey Lupul ? NHL Conspiracy - Out indefinitely

Kids sit inside watching too much hockey these days on their Smart Woosits and IChips. Get out there and go fishing, I say.

Methinks the lady doth protest too much. I'm sensing a secret burning passion for EDM coursing just beneath the surface of all this raillery.

Alright I admit, I chuckled several times, nice Nik.

Gameday! Oilers played last night as well up in La Belle Province. Got another good shot at banking two here.

Matthews, game time decision...

I hope that it is not bad. Although if it is rest he needs, I am not too worried as they didn't loose with him out of the line up earlier this season

He hasn't been himself lately anyway. Definitely not generating the offence he has and defensively I think he's been worse. I'm sure some will disagree but my two cents.

Watched the TSN clip with Mark Masters on tonight's preview. He mentioned Auston being a game time decision from the collision with Reilly. Didn't look like much of a hit to be honest and if he was shaken up why was he back out there for the last minute?

Things that don't hurt so much at the time, especially amped up on andrenaline, can hurt a lot more the next day.

Well the way he went off it did hurt at the time even more reason he shouldn't of went back out there.

I don't know what to tell you. This is hockey. Guys go off gingerly all the time only to return.

If Auston never reaches his potential because of injuries he sustained from players taking advantage of him, then the Leafs should ask for some of their money back on the Matt Martin contract.

I don't really care for broken Auston Matthews.  Time for him to get back to simply dominant Auston Matthews.

Jozy Altidore taking every second of that in.  Nice to see.  He has been really happy in Toronto.

I really dislike constantly having to listen to Jim Hughson for Leafs games....this is like 5 games in a row with him.

This has sort of reached a point where I think the team not telling us what the issue is is a bad thing for the fandom.

Yeah, that was probably not a great goal.

Nylander slotting in for Matthews on the Hyman/Brown line though.
