As we've said before, that guy is an Evil Genius.

Hey Bernier is supposed to be our number 1, but if the other guy has such a great record against them why not let him proceed. Nice to see some other posters here today, I thought everyone was still sleeping.

Not talking about you ZB, but it's funny how no one is talking about how bad a coach Carlyle is this year.

Last year there were endless tirades about his terrible systems, outdated methods, and his utter reluctance to change. He 'had to be fired' for this team to move forward.

This year...not so much. Of course that could change at any moment, but so far the critics are quiet. *you know who you are* :P

You can talk about me.  I still think he's the wrong guy to lead the rebuild, as per my sig.

I'm not convinced that a goaltender's record against a particular team is of much value in determining who starts.

I was just curious as to where all the Carlyle haters went to? What's the latest knock on him?

I'm not going to say he's a fantastic coach who is perfectly positioned to be the Leafs head coach for years to come, but man, last year he was 'Satan' on some of these boards, and the cause of all the Leafs woes.

Raptors were brought back down to earth last night. Tonight it's the Leafs turn, I think.

Pens will be hungry after getting embarrassed by the Rangers. Leafs will think they're the Harlem Globetrotters after crushing Boston.

Hope I'm wrong.

I don't think Randy Carlyle is the right coach for this team, but at the same time, he is who we have to work with. His decisions at times are baffling, but I believe he is here merely for continuity and as a convenient scapegoat when those baffling decisions catch up to the results.

However, I know he has the capacity to change (see his interaction with media prior to coming to Toronto), and if he is able to turn the team around with sustainable success, I'll give credit where credit is due.

In related news, player who has scored a bunch of goals is no longer being criticized for not scoring goals. Shocking developments at 11.

The criticism hasn't gone away, it's more that he's actually corrected some of the things and others haven't been as pronounced over the past couple weeks. Also, there's no sense in beating a dead horse. I doubt you'd find too many people that believe a good couple weeks is really indicative of any significant differences in the team's fortunes or in Carlyle's thinking. It's also not a coincidence that, now that he's actually doing some of the things people around here wanted him to do - like giving the 4th line ice time, playing guys like Holland in offensive situations, etc - is leading to the team to some success of late.

see my post and hermans reply in Roster Moves, where we talk about Mirtles take on Horacheck.  I think the team is listening to him whilst Spott is transitioning the Marlies into the squad and Carlyle is along for the ride (to some extent).
I think Horachuk is turning around our defence and breakouts like he did for the Panthers. For some reason the guys really seem to be listening to him, where is seems that they tuned Randy out, at least last year.

So, you've withdrawn some of your cristisms of him as coach because the team's winning more this year, or your realizing these things go in ups and downs, and not always in straight lines?

Are those really the only two options?

Thomas Greiss starts for Pittsburgh. Didn't realize the Pens play the Rangers again tomorrow so Fleury will get that game.
