Sure, but, the realistic difference that we'd see is more like the difference between whether he gets $7.5M or $7.75M.
Yeah, I'm firmly in this camp also. He isn't getting what Perry got, but he'll likely get a bit more than Stamkos, as Nik says, he's pending UFA as opposed to RFA (explained above).

Given the time frame we're looking at, absolutely. The less time, the less impact it's going to make on the outcome. The only way you're going to see a $2M difference is if Kessel basically tanks the entire season and the Leafs wait until after their season is over to start negotiating with him.

C'mon Kessel....sign for $6.5 for 8 years as well so that the Leafs can ice a competitive team.

Agreed! Steve Ott's going to UFA, and he's gonna want to get PAID.

Is that why Bergeron signed for $6.5 or maybe he needs a better agent?
Boston also signed Iginla for $6 and Rask for $7 so clearly you can pay prime time money for guys either way.

Which contract do you think that Ott would receive more money on? A RFA one or a UFA one? Just curious.

I really think so. Kind of like the Sedins and Kane/Toews.
I will proclaim he is a classy guy. It's not like he is Seguin! ;D
