That was a dreadful period. This team is bad. I don't know if Matthews is fixable but this is veering into sit him territory

Yes Woll gotta be better there, but everyone standing still in position against some rando build-a-player coming in with speed down the middle is thanks to the back to back turnovers by Matthews and Woll’s clearing attempt.

In a perfect world he's in the AHL right now and not being forced to contribute in the NHL. He needs offseason strength training. I'd rather he do good things and get pushed off the puck than avoiding those plays outright
 
This team does nothing.

They don't throw hits. They don't score. They don't defend. I honestly got more enjoyment out of the Kessel era teams
 
Absolutely zero pushback after the goal...all the play in the Leafs zone.

Stamkos slashes at Woll and McCabe barely goes over to give a shove
 
Hard to establish a forecheck focused offence if the breakout from the DZ involves circling it back three times to throw a prayer up the wall or finally get a pass through to three guys standing still at the blueline.
