Preseason GDT 2: Leafs vs Flyers L4-0

Beckett says the Flyer's look like this tonight, which if correct, shouldn't be too bad.

That is one terrible looking lineup.  The forwards probably have only 3-4 guys who will make the opening night lineup (Schenn, JVR, Simmonds, maybe 1 other like Mair or something). 

The best defenceman is Matt Carle who is at best a #3/4 guy.

Preseason is a time for experimenting with the lineup.  Fans can't complain about a team not icing their best players in exhibition.

Owuya, Colborne, Mueller, Blacker, Scott, Finger and Gysbers are almost guaranteed to not make the starting roster.

Franson, Zigomanis, Orr, Caputi, Rosehill, Kadri, Boyce are among those fighting for spots, Franson will probably make it, but among those forwards only a maximum of 3 out of 6 will make it, more likely to be only 1 or 2.

So it's very far from our starting roster.

I wouldn't say it's that close. There's lots of bubble players on our end. No Grabbo, Kooly, Armstrong, Bozak, Gunner, Aulie.

But yeah, still way better than the Flyers. It'll be interesting to see Schenn vs. Schenn and Kessel vs. Kessel though. Hopefully Reims works out the rust.

It's maybe half the Leafs starting roster, and that's assuming Franson and Orr are both starters and not extra skaters most of the season. Everyone else is either AHL bound or on the bubble.

Schenn when asked about his brother? Mostly just business answer and that it will be nice for friends and family he guesses.
