Vets not having a good game: Polak, Hunwick.

I think you may have changed your mind now about Hunwick?

I have not. If he wasn't playing poorly he wouldn't have needed to score that goal that JvR did all the work on.

JvR himself nearly blew the game on his first OT shift when he had the p the top of the circles with everyone down low and decided to fire a low percentage shot into some legs.

There was that one dipsy doodle... Good show for the most part, can't wait for the season to get underway.

Spoon, anyone else off that whole top 5 draft pick kick thing yet?

Seeing what our top end picks have done together, I could go for at least another top end prospect (on the back end).

Or just keep letting Zaitsev do his thing.

I think it's important to remember there's a limit to how much you should care about pre-season performance and that limit is somewhere between not at all and not a bit.

I guess there also needs to be a discrepancy made between 'care about' and 'enjoy'.

Sure, I don't think that is mutually exclusive tho.

People can and should enjoy whatever they want. If someone is specifically asking whether or not pre-season performance has made you re-evaluate what you think the team will do in the season or what its needs are then the relative lack of correlation between pre-season success and regular season success is directly at issue.

It was an exciting game, but it really should have been a dismantling of the Canadiens' AHL squad. Full credit to Montreal's team for leaving it all out on the ice and gutting out goals in spite of getting swamped in shots and possession time.

There were moments where the promise of our prospects shone through, and there were moments where the inexperience and tentativeness of our youth kept us from playing to our full potential.

The only conclusions I can safely draw from this preseason is that we have a lot of skill, we still need to develop more systematic defense, and the team is still carrying a bit of deadweight to be shed. I loved that we started playing with more speed and puck holding; I think we still need to translate all that puck possession and speed into to routine net drives with traffic, rather than trying to pass it into the net from the perimeter.

So showing up at the ACC in June with a T-Shirt that reads "I was promised a parade" because the Leafs went undefeated in pre-season is not advised?

Well, you never know. You might get lucky and run into the Raptors parade by accident.

The losing in the conference finals parade?

I'm working on the assumption that after Lebron James endorsed Hillary this weekend, President Trump will have him deported.
