But if a player falls and high sticks a guy, it's still a penalty because he has to be in control of his stick in the air. Didn't Belak get suspended like 8 games because something like that exactly happened?

The Belak suspension was ridiculous. But, yes, that does happen. It is, however, a small minority of high sticking calls. The overwhelming/entirety of high skating calls would be. I can understand why the league has a hard time justifying creating a penalty around an almost entirely accidental action.

O'Neill, Poulin, and McKenzie all say they wouldn't go to the White House.

*thumbs up*

edit: Is it weird that I think somebody on Sportsnet would have said yes?

edit2: Duthie calls the timing of Pittsburgh's statement "horrendous". No way somebody on Rogers-owned Sportsnet says that.

edit3: McKenzie said "sons of bitches" so I should be able to say it here too.

Matthews said he was just "trying to get pucks on net" on that first goal. Kane would accuse him of trying to boost his corsi.

Reills with the great lie-down on the two-on-one.

Thanks to Hainsey?s overaggressive pinch while our worst defensive line was on the tail end of their shift and not really ready to cover for him.

Hainsey, I will say, doesn?t look as laboured a skater as either Hunwick or Polak (or Marincin). And Marleau still looks fast even relative to this team.

Maybe it's just tonight but I really think defensemen are so good at playing the pass on a 2 on 1 I question the wisdom of trying it.

Martin is a veteran who understands his role and brings that physical presence so all of you people on here just shut up.

Nope. He needs to smell what this team is cooking.
