Keefe apparently hasn't ruled out going with 7 defencemen tonight.

Whatever way these games go, it's been very understated how Justin Holl basically saved the Leafs this season.

So they're playing back to back, this could be over quick.

Question, do you play Campbell in the 2nd game (tomorrow)?

I suppose that depends on a number of factors. If it's a relatively tidy 60 minutes or tomorrow night becomes a must-win, I go back to Andersen. If he's super busy or there's a long OT session, I'd have to seriously consider going with Campbell.

Only way they go to Campbell is if they a) win tonight and b) play at least one full OT period I think. Even then I'd say the odds would be just 50/50.

This post may have been a bit hyperbolic but I don't think it's a stretch to say that Justin Holl's season was the best anyone with a cap hit under $700k has ever had.

Yeah I had the same thought, although if you look at the numbers a goalie on a back to back historically doesn't play as well (although that could be due to the team being tired and facing a non-tired opponent which isn't the case here).  Given that both teams will be on the same rest, there's no advantage there, so it'll be a question as to both teams goalies, maybe Columbus goes with Elvis instead of Korpisalo too.  We'll see.

His salary, his good play, and his handedness all go into his importance to this team. This guy is basically found money given that he can play a regular d-shift on the right side and is cheap.

Yeah, that's basically what I was getting at.

Certainly that, but I wasn't trying to be hyperbolic :)

Holl played 11 games the season before while Babcock trotted out poopy RD after poopy RD. Dubas and Keefe had been pushing for Holl since Lou days.

Then, Justin Holl, who was apparently not good enough to supplant Polak and Ozhighanov and Zaitsev, does what Barrie and Ceci cannot do: drive play well with Muzzin in a matchup role. Whatevs, Muzzin makes everyone better. Except for Ceci. and Barrie, who both can't handle two-way top-4 defending for whatever reason. And Holl is still fine even without Muzzin.

Then Babcock is fired, and one of the big underlying reasons was that he didn't listen to the team, or management; both players and front office alike were sour about how Holl was treated

Justin Holl spared us from Barrie and Ceci (and Marincin) in matchup situations.

Jackets blending the lines a bit more today:
Texier-Dubois-Atkinson
Nyquist-Wennberg-Bjorkstrand
Foligno-Jenner-Foudy
Robinson-Nash-Bemstrom

Werenski-Jones
Gavrikov-Savard
Murray-Nutivaara

Which is an interesting choice, because Foligno and Bjorkstrand are their best defensive forwards and Dubois, Atkinson, and Bjorkstrand are their best offensive forwards.

So I think Tortorella is going to try to stuff the top two Leaf lines with non-Dubois lines and try to get an offensive leg up on Kerfoot.

From what I saw during that stretch with Muzzin, Rielly and Ceci out of the line-up, I understand the insertion of Marincin, even though he's not very good, over Sandin. Him and Barrie were getting pushed around all over the place and scored on continually. There's a little less of that with Holl, Ceci and Marincin in the line-up, of course depending on if they're competing hard. Bottom line, Muzzin is a massive loss, but bright side is they're playing a team whose offence is not their strong point.
