Qualifier Game 3: Leafs @ Blue Jackets - Aug. 6th, 8:00pm - SN, Fan 590

It?s the beginning of August and here I am yelling at the TV at another Leafs collapse in the playoffs. That pretty much sums up 2020.

I?m so mad we frittered away
A Ceci short handed AND Plinko goal
A Nylander goal
Nicky Bobby?s first goal

With all that's happened this year, the Leafs losing doesn't really register. Don't get me wrong I'd love to see them win it all and I think they still can but in the grand scheme of things this it's not a big deal.

Isn?t it great that Dubois starts the play to knock Muzzin out of the series and then scores 3 goals.  Karma hates this team.

Holy god. Why do I keep subjecting myself to this team. It's the same every year.

Thats why I went for a drive after 3-3 didn't watch any of the overtime. Get too stressed out watching the same crap. Soon as it was 3-1 I said to my bro here goes a 3-0 lead. Team in the Babcock days didn't know how to bury a team. Keep the pedal down. Go for the jugular etc. Same now which comes back to what I've been saying for a long time which is this team isn't a playoff team. Agree with guilt trip though let's focus on our health. Sad part is the Habs will probably get to the 2nd round which is more hard to swallow for a team that shouldn't even be participating in the post season. Have a good night folks.

It certainly seems that way. Could have used the Muzz tonight. Leafs will win tomorrow.

The Leafs had some pretty rough puck luck and the refs went back to ignoring Columbus hooks and holds. Andersen was also a little leaky - Dubois had exactly one place to shoot with his backhand on that last play and Andersen gave him way too much net. Ditto for the other two on one.

Overall, the Leafs deserved better. Our defence is a whole lot worse without Muzzin.

Look at the bright side. We'll have a shot at 1st overall if we lose this series! Watch the game for the excitement of it. It's a lot easier on the heart. That OT was exciting. Just didn't end the way we'd like.
And screw the Habs.

I thought the refs let too much go in the 3rd. There were 2 maybe 3 def calls they ignored and the arm grab on Matthews in OT?

Leafs losing to New Jersey after Domi elbowing Niedermayer in the head to end a Leaf win, that's karma.  This is just adding insult to injury.

But the Leafs winning Game 5 on a Dubois OT own goal, that's karma. :)

I was at that game.  ACC was going crazy and then Domi did that and all the air was let out of the place.

I don?t want their first cup in over 50 years to be won this tournament. I want a full season and I want to see a packed house of fans inside and out losing their collective minds.

I?m not optimistic about this now.  Freddy had to put a tonne if work in tonight.  You have to ride him tomorrow but this team just lacks something in terms of being able to push through adversity
I agree.  It just appears that this collection, as talented as they are, don?t have what it takes to get over the hump.  Sample size is large enough now.

Trade em all!

I don't believe that is what I said or intimated, but you can manipulate it all you wish.

It's one thing to lose a series when the team is outmatched (Capitals series), it's quite another when they control most of the game and then stop doing anything useful in the OZ leading to repeated collapse of defensive structure and goaltending.

The Jackets have no business being in this series when the Leafs are on. Their fate is entirely within their own hands.

If Muzzin had been playing then things would have been mucho different.

Or if the Leafs weren't on the road facing that hostile Columbus crowd.
