Qualifier Game 5: Blue Jackets @ Leafs - Aug. 9th, 8:00pm - SN, TSN 1050

The Leafs certainly haven?t looked bad but hopefully they can start putting a bit more pressure on the Bluejackets

Yeah. Not a bad period, but not quite at the level they should be. They need to ramp it up a bit.

Thoughts.

Columbus may have the horseshoes tonight after a crossbar and a wide open net post by Tavares.

Ceci stinks.

I wish Barrie could be more Dermott-like...is something I wish I wouldn't have to hope for, given his talent level.
I was watching in disbelief on one of his last shifts as he held the puck too long and then shoveled it into a corner where there were no Leafs for miles.

Top line could have 2 or 3 already tonight.

They look amazing.

A part of me would love to see what they could do together over the course of a full season.

Matthews has shut my quibbling up this series.  His game looks like Crosby's at this point.
He's the real deal. Total 200ft game now. Dangerous almost every shift.

Ceci replaced Zaitsev perfectly in this "Leafs as office characters" thread:

Unless Andersen gloved this, even stopping this floater would?ve resulted in a juicy rebound and basically unimpeded access for Jenner (?). Barrie is on the very wrong side of this play.

Original problem was Nylander not getting out to the point quick enough. 2nd was Barrie not boxing the guy out. I think Barrie could have grabbed that shot himself. No matter how the season ends I'll be glad not to see CC and Barrie next year.

OldTimeHockey gonna have a problem with this :)

Outside of that disaster shift in their own zone this has been the Leafs controlling the play.
