Question about the Bond Place hotel in Toronto

Has anyone ever stayed there before?

Seems like one of the few places that are room available when I plan on coming and still pretty close to Maple Leaf Square area. I just have never heard of it before and was wondering what its like there, 175$ a night seems a bit high, so I'd like to know its worth the price.

Thanks!

I haven't stayed there but why not take advantage of the subway? Stay at a place outside of downtown but on a subway line where I assume it's going to be much cheaper for you. I can't reccomend a place but I'm sure there's a ton.

I have never taken the subway in Toronto, does it run all the time? if not, what time does it shut down at on weekends?

Last train is about 1:45 or 1:55 if memory serves.

Check out Trip Advisor. I post reviews there (though not of Bond Street) and rely on it when choosing a hotel that I never stayed in. My favorite Toronto hotel is the Victoria, which is just a few blocks from the ACC on Yonge Street.

I spent over $10,000/year for hotels in the GTA.  I first go to priceline and do a 'bid' on a 'mystery' hotel for my location.  I usually bid $45 for a 2 1/2 star hotel.  (Currently I'm at the Quality Inn on Islington for that price.)  If Priceline doesn't accept my bid and suggest a higher bid, I go to expedia and pick one of their no-name deals.  Expedia is kind of nice because you can find out more info about the 'mystery' hotel, such as if it has a swimming pool, etc.  Note: If you're driving, most 3 and up star hotels charge about $12-15 for parking... that's not mentioned in these mystery deals.

After my most recent trip I don't think I'll stay in hotels that often.

Instead of hotels, I stayed in homes through airbnb.com. There are plenty in Toronto, all price ranges and areas, some where you have an entire condo, some where it's just a bedroom. Another good site is vrbo.com.

My last experience with priceline will be exactly that - the last time I use them. I bid on a hotel and ended up being "upgraded" to one 45 minutes out of town and am still fighting to get my money back.

Also, check your rewards programs (Airmiles, HBC) to see if you have enough to book a room.

The Ramada at Jarvis and Carlton near Maple Leaf Gardens has rates under $100 per night for the winter months that I looked at. It's an excellent hotel.
