R1, G3: sens vs. Maple Leafs - Apr. 24th, 7:00pm - SN, Fan 590

He's been awesome for sure but he can't let shots like that in. Goals like that can change the series/season. Leafs should have and deserved to win in regulation for their stellar defensive play. Let's hope that's the last of the softies.

Toronto fans sometimes are guilty of being spoiled naggers. One 'mediocre game by Willy' or 'one softie by the hottest goalie in the NHL a/k/a Stolarz' and it amounts to complaints and nagging that goes to absurdity.

This is the most enjoyable and successful the Leaf franchise has been in a generation. If a fan can't sit back and enjoy, it's not a reflection on the team....it's a reflection on the fans.

One of the contributions to a losing record for this team in the playoffs is this specific issue. So many people negatively nit picking from their couch or media seat every tiny little detail to absurdity.

Most of us have been guilty of it. It's a symptom of love for the game, and ptsd and overanalyzing. I do it too.

This year I'm doing it differently.

I threw a Leaf party at my house last night. The entire outside of the house is decorated with Leaf flags and LED. Ive been on Podcasts. I'm heading to a bar downtown Saturday night and I'm planning to be at the Round 1 Parade on Yonge Street when they Sweep or Gentleman's Sweep.

I'm Loving it!!!

Go Leafs Go!

I love the talking heads on the radio. I don’t know who was on at noon on the fan hockey show but they were basically saying how frustrated Ottawa should be because they could ‘easily’ be up 2-1 and have “dominated” 5-5 play. They also threw in that ‘Ottawa isn’t out of this yet’. Ok there.

Isn’t this the EXACT kind of bullshit that these people call out leafs fans for in past years?

I would say it's nice the shoe is on the other foot.

Ottawa dominated all of one period where the score was tight. One. Too many people look at the numbers and remove the context. More shots doesn't mean dominating, especially when so many of the shots are from far out.The Sportsnet panel isn't helping with this, as they're very much pushing the same narrative.

In the 3rd periods and OT, Ottawa hasn't been able to get pucks on net. Hard for them to win when the Leafs aren't giving them anything.

I say let them push the narrative. I'd rather have that than the opposite of praising the Leafs that don't get it done.

Feel free to keep saying the Leafs suck pundits, it doesn't bother me at all.

Question: what looks right, when they should be looking left?

Answer: Ullmark on Matthews goal.

44 wrap around to 16 deflection pass (and speed up) to 34 one timer is the prettiest goal this series in my books.

The level of sickness on this execution is mind blowing to me.

Loved everything about that play: Rielly's perfect dump in, Marner's one-footed-one-touch pass, Ullmark looking the wrong direction, Matthews being ready, Matthew knowing that Marner can make plays like this, Matthews perfect finish, Matthews first goal of the playoffs, more points for our core 4, and changing the narrative.

Nah. If there was a really meaningful penalty, I’d agree, but a small fine feels about right for this.

Org fines make more sense than mere individual fines (limited by CBA to basically couch cushion change).

I wonder how much of this might be backdooring a slap on the wrist for their coach’s grousing about refereeing and the diving. Feels like a ‘make up call’ and this just happened to be the convenient reason they could hide it under.

The fine to the Sens organization seems like a bit of an FU.

I get why Pinto got the long suspension for gambling stuff although it did seem to be a pretty harsh punishment . I get why they got fined for the Dadonov thing but it did seem to be harsh to take away a 1st round pick. Bettman seems like to punishing the Sens organization in a way that other franchises don't. He seems to be fine pissing off Andlauer which seems unnecessary when he spent a crapload to buy a lesser Canadian franchise.
