R1, G6: Lightning vs. Maple Leafs - Apr. 29th, 7:00pm - CBC, TSN 1050

Kudos to Bunting, Lilejgren, and Gustafsson.  They all came in and made a positive difference.

Three OT games and the Leafs legit stole two wins from Tampa.  He wasn't wrong.  Tampa put up a good fight.

I agree. Tampa played very well and the series easily could have gone the other way. Saying so doesn't take away from what the Leafs did. Playing as well as they did with the monkeys on their backs is a legit accomplishment no matter how the other team played but Tampa, a team that was really only in this position because the Cap has basically gutted their depth, did themselves proud.

G7 seems inevitable but I am going to go way out on a limb and predict a Leafs win tonight.  I think they'll get their attack going.

Oh yeah, I'm going to dine off this for awhile
Haha...I changed it up tonight.  Different shirt and pants. If they lost the beard was coming off for game 7...glad it doesn't need to now. The wife, not so happy lol.
Let's hope this makes them even hungrier going forward.
I hope Florida wins it tomorrow so we can laugh at the best team choking. I think the Leafs can beat either team.

I wore underwear from 2004

Tampa?s hyper aggressive puck pursuit, coupled with Samsonov getting hot at the right times, did the Lightning in as they ran out of gas and didn?t score enough to put their games out of reach.

Fresh and younger legs on the Leafs caused them problems from long change on, every game.

That's a very good point that wasn't talked about much. It took so much effoet to play that way.

Knies is a stud.  Rielly is a stud who steps up in the postseason.  Matthews has arguably his best game tonight.  Dangerous all night.

Bunting had a solid effort.

I'm always cautious about college players coming in, but he's legit good. Very excited about him going forward.

3 apples in 5 games. Primary assist on series winner and as mentioned on the I've for all 3 OT winners

Samsonov did what he had to, good teams find a way to win, the Leafs did that this series and if you look back on most teams run to the cup they will have games with goals like last night, Kypreos is right though, we do need to come out stronger in the first but now that the monkey is gone maybe they can relax a bit and that will help their starts, who knows...lol Onward and upward, GO LEAFS!!

Same. I thought it was pretty crazy that he'd even get into the lineup, but I'll admit I was wrong about his ability to make the jump.

That said, the positives about his o-zone play have papered over some pretty glaring giveways and positional gaffes. But that's hardly surprising considering how little time he's spent at this level, not to mention even how few practices he's had with the team. It can only improve from this point.

Certainly seems like he'll be skipping the AHL and allowing the leafs a bit of cap relief in the top 6.

Sandin and Engvall rn

For people that have watched him play, this is only mildly surprising. He'd been toted as the most NHL ready player in college and he's only 20. Only concern from most was the speed factor and he's handled that fine. Mistakes will happen but as long as he learns and isn't in repeat mode we're good.

Not to kick TB when they're down, but that massive overpayment deadline deal for Jeanneaut will have to go down as one of the worst in cap era history.
No way, a 25+ goals, 100+PIMs annually.

That actually isn't Jeannot though....

I am probably one of the biggest Jeannot homers on this web site but I am not sure if you realize that last season he only had one point from April 1st to the end of the season on April 29th. That is 15 games...yup...15 games.

In the playoffs last year he only had 1 assist and was -4.

I understand that he looks like a UNICORN but last season he had an insane 19.4 S% after riding a 21.7 S% the 15 games he played at the end of 20-21.

After the trade to Tampa Bay he played 20 games and scored only 1 goal, was a -6 and shot at 5%. This year's playoffs he played 3 games 0 goals, 0 assists and -2 against the Leafs bottom 6.

So Jeannot costing:

Cal Foote ? $850,000
2023 3rd round pick (TBL - #84)
2023 4th round pick (TBL - #116)
2023 5th round pick (TBL - #148)
2024 2nd round pick (TBL)
2025 1st round pick (TBL) [Conditional]*
*Conditions: Top 10 protected

...is a bit much and like I said, in the past I was one of Jeannot's biggest fans.
