R1, G6: sens vs. Maple Leafs - May 1st, 7:00pm - SN, TSN 1050

I think Berube will have a short leash with Stolarz moving forward. He started off well but got worse as the series progressed. Bad goals in Gms 3, 4, 5, and again tonight. That 2nd goal can't go in.
He let in some rough goals, but, at the end of the day, he only allowed more than 2 goals in one game in the series. He gave the team a chance to win every night, and that's all you can reasonably expect from your goalie.

Last year Bertuzzi, Domi, Matthews tied for the team lead in scoring with 4 points.
Last year Nylander led the team with 3 goals (in 4 games)
Last year we had 9 players score a goal in 7 games. This year we had 10 in 6 games.

Kind of hard to argue that the top players didn't show up when the young 3 are above PPG.

I think the big thing is that even with the miserable game 5 this team didn't look shaky like previous years. Ottawa tied the game up and the Leafs took it right back to them. That's what Boston would constantly do to us in the postseason. We would get momentum and they would take it right back. Nice to see it go back the other way.

A hard opponent next but they are supposed to be hard.

1. Just like we figured, Holmberg in on the winning goal.

2. My favourite part of the game was when Nylander got hit hard in the corner by Klevin, then he skated harder than any backcheck he's ever skated to slam Klevin right back. Honestly, I'm not sure I've ever seen Nylander hit anyone that hard.

I like the sense of humour from the broadcast - they keep showing Marc Savard going bananas after a Leaf goal, and Berube glaring.
It wasn't just going bananas.... he was flexing at Berube. And he did it once and then turned around again to do it a second time just to dig it into Berube.

If Berube is an insecure coach....he would fire Savard in the off season. If he is a coach that only wants to win.... he would recognize that Savard just broke through a statistic that goes back to 2018 where Leafs have been 0 for 30 on PP for deciding games.

Of course its OK to celebrate that and flex muscles like a bull dog in every direction..... I was doing exactly that in my basement when that goal went in too! Like perhaps another 100k people around the continent.
