R1G1: Leafs @ Bruins - May 1st, 7:00pm - CBC, TSN 1050

The only time I have ever used the Ignore option. I don't mind if someone wants to bash the team but don't pretend to be a Leaf fan while doing it.

They aren't putting another 4 past Rask. Time for the dreaded "moral" victories.

Better watch out.. the people on this site tend to come at you with pitch forks if you aren't posting anything positive.

I've been here for a decade, I'm afforded some leeway.

You, on the other hand, have yet to say anything positive about the team.

What is there 'good' to say? Bruins were their worst matchup. They stood no chance against them. This is obvious to anyone who could critically think and put aside bias.

We needed Montreal, and we blew that chance.

We get it, we don't need you to tell us over and over and over again. Nobody is expecting them to win this series and they undoubtedly won't....but can we not enjoy the fact they're in the playoffs, even for 5 minutes?

Even in a sweep, it may not seem like it, but these playoff "reps" are invaluable for some of the youngsters.

We can chide about "moral" victories but a better effort in the 3rd will help set up a better game on Sat nite.  You only need to win one out of the first two to gain advantage.

I think I knew this would happen, I was maybe hopeful / kidding myself.  On that note maybe they will surprise and have a good effort on Saturday, but it doesn't look like they can really compete with Boston.  Other than JVR our forwards are virtually invisible.  I think the high tempo of the playoffs has really exposed Fraser in particular, and Kostka has been very bad.

I hate Fraser.

I hate Orr.

I hate McLaren.

I hate Carlyle.

did you like wilson?

Wilson's line-up decisions never aggravated me as much as Carlyle's does.

And wilson's teams never made the playoffs.  So playing so guys with toughness does help the team win.

Getting the best goaltending that this team has seen in 9 years is what got us into the playoffs.

No it doesn't, goaltending does.  That's the big difference between Wilson's teams and this team.  The stats are there to see.

Down 3 goals against the Bruins with a period to go is like being down 4 or 5 against the average NHL club. So they might as well play the enforcers to bang the crap out of the Bruins and try to wear them down for the next game.

Nope. Totally the guys that averaged less than 10 shifts a night. The 5 or 6 minutes they saw the ice was clearly the difference. ;D

Umm did anyone expect anything less than this? This is classic Leafs/Bruins. I've only been a little disappointed with Reimer. The rest? I mean, Orr, McLaren, Kostka just aren't going to get it done.

Exactly.  That line also isn't being man handled like some of the other lines too.

John Mitchell on the top PP? Centering the first line?

Two things. First, I don't think Wilson ever did that for as long as some of Carlyle decisions. I'd say Kostka lasted on the top pairing more than Mitchell lasted on the top line. And two, Carlyle has a lot more resources available to him than Wilson did. Carlyle has at least 3 guys in the press box right now that are better hockey players than some of the players he decided to play.

When they start doing that I'll applaud them for it. I just haven't really seen it, and I'm not even just talking about tonight. Frattin's been a better forechecker in his stint on the 4th line than Orr and McLaren ever were.
