Easton Cowan show tonight. He and Knies play with oodles of confidence (at this level) and are always trying to create. Minten doing a lot of little plays to keep the offense alive. Kokkonen and Niemela look a step above the rest on the backend.  Ovchinnikov kinda disappointingly invisible unless he?s bobbling a puck away.

No goal, but Cowan knew after 3 shifts that he could bully the Stars. Knies has been doing it all night.

Overall strong effort as a team (especially after getting steamrolled yesterday) but sort of showing the lacking offensive ceiling in the prospect pipeline. They?ve generated enough chances to be up by 7.

Works in Canada too, and even better because I can use the Picture in Picture feature in iOS, unlike YouTube.

I think Frasca gets a look on an AHL deal. Mastrosimone was involved regularly.

Niemela, Kokkonen, Villeneuve good on the backend at handling the puck, skating into good ice and moving the puck.

Ovchinnikov improved as the tournament progressed. Lisowsky obviously puts his name into the hat for your attention.

CapFriendly just uploaded all their Leafs prospect scouting reports (no team filters yet)

Edit: as expected, these rankings are whack. Except for the ones that say Minten and Knies and Cowan are dope.

I'm really looking forward to seeing if Knies can be effective for an entire season.  He's never played the amount of games in a single season that is expected in the NHL.  I normally don't get too high on prospects but this kid seems to have the certain "mojo" of being a good player.  Love his size and hockey smarts, hope he continues to trend upwards.

He hasn't hit the ice yet for an NHL regular season game yet, so this is still the right thread to share this in. We'll see in a few weeks whether I start posting Minten stuff in the main!

Akhtyamov getting a chance to finally play some KHL games due to injuries to the 2 goalies above him and is making the best of it.

Is it just me, or do they all have the shot selection skills of Ilya Mikheyev?

I was gonna say good for him but most of those shots save for a couple don't look particularly threatening.

And it wasn?t particularly because of good defensive positioning lol

Cowan, checking in at 1C tonight, tallies a shortie on the breakaway after blocking a shot for his second goal in his second game for the Knights.

Period 2:
Cowan with a splendid short handed effort to bulldog a puck through 3 Frontenacs and feed his linemate for a nice one timer goal.

It?s like 6-0 Knights on 16 shots. They?re getting outshot but nearly everything they put up against Kingston is going in.

Barkey might have a career year thanks to Cowan

Guys, I think we got another one coming

9 points in 4 games (having missed the first 5), puts Cowan on pace for 141ish pts. I doubt he hits that, but given the way London rolls over most OHL teams, 100 is not out of the question.

Some of his assists are very much OHL goals. But Cowan's are projectable.

Reminds me of another speedy little guy who likes to go forehand-backhand on breakaways

He's playing under the coaching of Bill Peters, who has fired up his redemption tour (let's see how far that goes).

So let's get up to date with what's been going on for Chadwick since his WHL season began. He's been very consistently used as the 2LD for Lethbridge this year, with one game starting on the top pair and one game starting on the bottom. Otherwise, second pair all game very game. On special teams, he's also consistently been used as the second powerplay and penalty kill units. So pretty much across the board, he's being used a lot but in no situation has he been their top, go-to guy.

Production wise, it's been a nice season for him. Late last season, Elite Prospects wrote an article profiling him and three others who they thought would be primed for a point production breakout this year. The idea being they identified in all of them skills that produced opportunities, but for whatever reason it just didn't lead to actual points. With Chadwick, they noted that he had the brain to create opportunities but lacked the skating or the hands to capitalize on any openings or chances he could create.

Well, if this season is any indication his hands and feet may have started to catch up. That and, you know, good bounces.

He has time to polish up the skating (pivots, decisiveness going backwards), but maybe he just becomes one of those players that adapts to only skating forwards for defense (e.g. Kevin Shattenkirk).
