Raptors close to acquiring Kawhi Leonard

Apparently Leonard bought a house, as opposed to renting, in Toronto and that has people thinking that he may be considering staying long term.

That may be true but the way these guys get paid nowadays I can't help but think that buying a house is less of a commitment than it used to be. Especially in a market like Toronto where at worst you're left with a pretty good investment.

That counter argument came up.  I think it's hard to read anything in to this one way or another.  He needed a place to stay while playing in Toronto so he bought a house.  That pretty much sums it up.

It would be pretty cool though if he decided to stay.

The thing that gives me pause is that apparently it was William Nylander's house that he bought.

That can't be true?  Where did you hear that?

It was a poor attempt at humour.

Your first hint should have been that Nylander can't afford a house in Toronto on what they were paying him.

I think you are being too hard on yourself.  I think that at the very least that was an average attempt at humor.

Three cheers for Danny Green.  Why he thinks Kawhi will like playing in Toronto, even after Leonard made it clear (via other sources) that he intends to be a Laker after this season:

?I don?t know where his mind is at for the future. I can?t predict or tell you. I can just tell you that the city of Toronto is gonna be hard to turn down after being there,? Green explained on his ?Inside the Green Room? podcast. ?I?ve been going every summer for the past 10-plus years. It?s a great city and the fans are amazing.?

Has this guy even acknowledge that he's been traded to Toronto yet?

Yeah, there was a press conference and he even showed up.  He has a history of avoiding the media.  Not sure why he would want to go to L.A. in that case.  You'd have to think there would be more media there.

There would be an awful lot of media there but he'd also probably be able to avoid most of it and generally exist in Lebron's shadow.

The "introductory" press conference will be on September 21st -- for both Leonard & Green-- where they will be officially introduced to the media.

Should be interesting to gauge Leonard and what impression he gives, and of course, answer questions.

Yeah, he would have to have known that LeBron was going there before this year though.  The rumours that he wanted to go to L.A. started early in the season last year.  Still, he probably has gotten good at avoiding it over time.

Sorry, you are correct.  He didn't make an appearance at the press conference but there was a picture that showed him in Toronto on July 20th with Bobby Webster and Masai Ujiri.

He actually looked okay though not particularly upbeat for the moment as compared to Ujiri or Webster.

Yep that's the one.  I believe his smile is 3 steps up from football player saying his name and position during first quarter announcements.
