I think we may miss Tyler Bozak more than we think.

I was reading The Athletic piece on him earlier and as much as I said earlier about Komarov and Kapanen/Johnsson, I'd bring Bozak back if we could for at least one more year, possibly a couple

I don't know how much he will command but he's a pretty useful player.  I'd say he has to be one of the best college free agent signings of recent years.  Credit to Burke (IIRC) on that.

This is a legit 4th line.  What a different dynamic compared to when Martin was playing.

I agree but ... when Glendenning shoved Matthews down, I grimaced.  I don't like how opposing teams are taking little runs at him.

Of course, we've been through all the arguments for Martin as a (non-?) deterrent.  But still.

Possibly. If he's open to signing a smaller contract that he has now, I'd be on board with bringing him back - though, part of me wonders how effective he'll be without JvR on his wing. He's never really played without a very good goal scorer on one side.

If he hits the open market, I think he gets priced out of the Leafs' range for the role they'd want him for.

From the article:

Since the start of the 2005-06 season, Bozak ranks seventh among undrafted players in assists and points and fifth in power-play goals.

Assuming he plays in every game the rest of the way, Bozak will have worn the Maple Leaf more than all but 20 players ? more times than franchise legends like Lanny McDonald, Eddie Shack, Rick Vaive, and Red Kelly. Bozak passed Kelly last month for 24th on the Leafs all-time scoring list and he's creeping up on Syl Apps for 20th spot in assists. He's also nestled in the top-20 in franchise history with 46 career power-play goals and trails only Mats Sundin in faceoff wins.

Article also makes reference to a lot of the others the Leafs picked up around that time and not many of them did much so fair play to Bozak (Hanson, Brenner, Gysbers, Spencer Abbott)

Thanks for that, Arn.  To be honest, I would have guessed him even higher among undrafted players, but that's still good.

I think the guys higher than him all are undrafted CHL guys. He must lead all NCAA free agents that signed since then.

Arizona up 2-0 on Florida.  Realistically this is the only team the Leafs need to worry about in the playoff race.  A Leafs win/Florida loss would have them 16 points back with Florida only having 9 games left.  I know it's pretty much wrapped up but it would be nice to be able to know for sure.

Eh. Even with Florida's streak they never really threatened the Leafs spot.

Oh I know, and it was always going to take an absurd collapse that really hasn't been seen to make that happen but I'll just be glad to see that X next to the Leafs name.
