Report: Leafs sign Par Lindholm

Still just a rumour/report at this time, but it looks like the Leafs have signed Par Lindholm to an ELC (one-year, I think).

He's a Swedish centre, 26 years old, who was very nearly a PPG player last season. He drew plenty of NHL attention and was rumoured as late as last week to be going to the Canucks (Vancouver ended up declining).

Finished 2nd in scoring on his team to former Leafs great Joakim Lindstrom.

Per CanucksArmy, Lindholm's line centring Joakim Lindstrom and Oscar Moller all finished in the top 10 SHL scorers (4th, 3rd, 9th, respectively).

And to correct my previous post, he is not limited the ELC rules, being over 25 (turning 27 by the start of the season, as well), so who knows what his cap hit comes in at.

There are a lot of contracts coming off the reserve list at the end of this season, worst case scenario he bolts for Sweden or is an excellent AHL player.

Additional grist for the mill (Carlton, does this warrant its own thread, or should I wait until confirmed officially?)

A mini scouting report partway down:

I'm sure the Leafs are more interested in the stellar reports of his two-way play, but this is encouraging. He turns 27 at the beginning of October so he's on the older side of guys coming over from Europe, but since he's only being looked at as a 4C option that's not really a big deal.

Most importantly, before the puns come in, his name is pronounced like pair/pear/pare.

P?r pared a pair of pears.

I'm sure this undrafted, mid 20s guy we've never really heard of will become an instant star. :/

Good article in the Athletic today about Par Lindholm.

Starting to sound more and more likely that the 4C spot is essentially his to lose at this point. According to that article he was 58% on faceoffs last season, so Babs will love that.

Lets hope he is a find, the way it sounds is he could move up the lineup if one of our other C's were to go down. If that happens Maybe Goats do Roam.
