Seriously, he will be a solid piece of our porous defence. (sigh) though at what price. 3 yrs/$9M is a bit steep for a veteran of his age, but if that's whom the Leafs management wanted, then so be it. A cap hit $3M doesn't make it catastrophic in that sense.
I dont know why 3 mil a year for an established player can be considered steep, when we pay rookies a 1 mil who have never played a professional game in their lives. Yes three years may be a little long, but maybe he will catch the "chelios bug" and play well into his 40's.
