Expect the MTS Centre to need roof repairs next Tuesday morning. Can't wait to see the crowd in Game 3.

I'll be cheering Winnipeg (aka, Barrie West) in this round. Anaheim will be tough, but come on Scheifele, Ladd, Little & Company, you can do this!

I'm excited to see the playoff atmosphere at MTS but I can't see this series lasting very long - Ducks in 5. Hope I'm wrong!

I think the Jets will be competitive here, but the Ducks will probably wait until the second round before they choke out.

Corey Perry & Ryan Getzlaf.  Anaheim's "dynamic duo" and rightly so.  But not completely anymore as the Ducks emerged this season a much more balanced team that did not always depend on Perry or Getzlaf to score.  Players such as Ryan Kesler, Matt Beleskey, Andrew Cogliano and co., as well as a young and very mobile defence corps in Vatanen, Fowler, Lindholm, and of course, the veteran guidance of Francois Beauchemin, all factors in the Ducks surge to the top of the league standings.

Add to the mix a couple of solid netminders in John Gibson, and especially Frederik Anderson, and one has a team that's going to be tough to beat (as the Ducks proved during the regular season).

Enter Winnipeg.  Yes, the resurgent Winnipeg Jets.  A team that works hard, and is quite physical in their game.  The Jets led by Mark Scheifele, Drew Stafford, Dustin "Big Buff" Byfuglien, Ladd, Wheeler et al., plus a mobile and big defence (if one counts in 6'6 Tyler Myers), the Jets make for more than just an ordinary foe.

Of course, against the Ducks, the Jets won nary a regular season game, so these playoffs already aren't boding too well.  Expect Winnipeg to give Anaheim a good run, and the Jets' goaltenders Michael Hutchinson & Ondrej Pavelec to continue to provide some sort of solid support in net.

So Anaheim is the top seed in the West and has 10 more points than their first round opponent. They also have the worst goal differential of any team in the playoffs.

Parity!

Anaheim 4  Winnipeg 2.  Ducks lead series 1 game to 0.

Corey Perry scored what proved to be the winning goal with just a little over five minutes left in the third period.  The Ducks then went on to score again, this time by Ryan Gezlaf to close out with a victory in Game1.

After the Jets took a 2-I lead in the second period (on a goal by Drew Stafford, Anaheim stormed back scoring three unanswered goals in the third period, led by Perry who had four points on the night

The Jets and the Ducks combined for a total of 80 hits -- making for quite a physical Game 1 opening.  Expect more of the same, as the series continues with Game 2 here in Anaheim on Saturday.

Anaheim  2  Winnipeg 1    Anaheim leads series 2 games  to 0.

Yet another oome-from-behind win for the Anaheim Ducks.  In fact, Anaheim set an NHL season record for most wins (18) when trailing in the third period.

It was the work of forward Jakob Silfverberg,  with a nifty wrister past Jets goalkeeper Ondrej Pavelec with just 21 seconds left in the third period,  that won it for the Ducks.
Someone obviously forgot to tell the Winnipeg Jets of Anaheim's come-from-behind histrionics.

Game 3 goes Monday in Winnipeg at 9PM ET.

So....HYPE HYPE HYPE on the return of playoff hockey to Winnipeg. Pregame festivities and....SportsNet goes to a commercial.

Have they ever screwed up the games. I can't and don't even watch pregame anymore or intermissions. Other than Grapes of course.... ;)

Dear dopes in Winnipeg. It's the National Anthem, not your opportunity to swear allegiance to your Corporate Overlords. Show a little respect.

It's so weird.

What did they do?

They yell "True north!" when that is sang during the Canadian anthem because True North Sports & Entertainment owns the Jets and MTS Centre/was company that moved Jets back to Winnipeg.

Jets are seriously boo'ing Ryan Kesler because he used to play for the Manitoba Moose? I hate this team. They're like a worse version of the Habs except without the long history of success.
