Round 2: Colorado Avalanche vs. Vegas Golden Knights

That's the exact kind of incoherent nonsense you'd expect from a reporter who was fired from his newspaper for sending harassing Twitter messages to a female hockey fan. Super glad the NHL gave him credentials again for his blog.

He's handling it as well as you would expect.

My favourite part was how he mocked Spittin' Chiclets and I thought "oh ok maybe this guy does have a brain" and then the second one of them responded to him he started kissing their feet.

I'm thinking Kadri will be finding a new home next season.

Maybe, though, I'm not sure he would have been a difference maker here.
He would have. In a series so tight you need all your guns going. He's their 2nd line centre and Kadri being out allowed Vegas to focus on the MacKinnon line and after the 1st game blowout, that's what they did.
MacKinnon had 2 assists in the last 4 games,(Vegas' victories). Rantanen had 2 goals 1 assist, Landeskog had 2 assists.
Anybody think the Leafs still lose if JT was in our lineup? Kadri hurt them just like he did with us 2 years in a row. I say he gets left unprotected for the draft.

This series wasn't that tight, though. Vegas was the better team, and by a margin larger than what Kadri could have made up. He maybe helps Colorado push it to game 7, but he doesn't put them over the top. Their big guns needed to produce more.

Just caught the 3rd. Man the Leafs are in no way better than these two teams. They just play at a completely different tempo.

I felt like the Avs got really unlucky on the double deflection and looked like the better team but they just couldn't get it done.

I'm not so sure.  The Leafs are very good when you allow them to play with pace.  I think if the Leafs get in to a series with Tampa or Colorado their chances of winning are quite high.

The problem becomes when they play a team that is capable of taking the pace out of the game.  That's when the Leafs either have to assert themselves more or have the pieces in place that can play that game as well.

I agree with this.

Problem is the Leafs never seem to dictate the game...they always seem to be reacting to the other team

I don't think I agree when they've got the likes of Brayden Point, Kucherov, Stamkos, Hedman and a good supporting cast. Vegas is Montreal esque so I don't see it there and the Avs are the Leafs but with better and cheaper deprh.

And as an aside, I mean how many times so they have to lose in the first round to recognize this team isn't as good as we want them to be or think that they are? There's no use throwing away 1st round picks every year while never being better than a 6-10 team in the league.

For me style of play that the other wants to play factors in to it.  I get they haven't got past the first round which means they aren't in that true contender status yet, but they are still a top team.

Like the Avs have weaknesses.  Their center depth is a little thin.  I would take Matthews/Tavares over MacKinnon/Kadri for example.  So it's not like the Leafs would have no chance of skating with the Avs or the Lightning.  A game with flow plays right in to wheelhouses of the big 4.

However if you take skill out of the game, the Leafs have nothing left.  They don't have those grind players that will score the scrambly goals in front of the net when you are skating through mud in the neutral zone.
