Brokerage fees through the roof

Those will come down as they realize no teams are meeting their asking price.

Yup.  On top of which, if they're selecting 30 players (most of whom are no longer waiver exempt), and can only carry a roster of 23, they risk losing them for nothing on waivers when October rolls around.

How the turn tables...

I mean in fairness I'd probably demand that kind of package to justify me not drafting Gourde.

A number of those guys will get flipped for picks probably. Vegas moved 4 of their selections for picks within a week or so of selecting them.

Yup, this is a reasonable ask for certain players (Gourde), and will be a different ask for others (bargaining, baby).

Yeah I mean I'm glad a team didn't bend over backwards to help a Cup winner/contender out of a jam. Nice change of pace.

I don't think Seattle was going to get the same sort of offers that Vegas got to avoid certain players because like others have said in the past most teams seem to have been a little more prepared for this draft. No one was gifting them a Shea Theodore this time.

Well this makes sense and all but it would have been really fun to see it happen.

Think they should have bit on this one.

Yeah. They could have added some quality pieces by retaining salary on a trade there. Missed opportunity - though, Dunn is a pretty good piece, as well.

Dunn is a good acquisition.  I wonder if the medical reports on Tarasenko scared them away.

Crazy days are ahead. Will they flip Gio with salary retention? Will be anchor their blueline? Stay tuned...

No Kahkonen is a little surprising, although Daccord is also exempt from waivers still.

They must really like Soucy, otherwise, who did they take from Minnesota?

Soucy would be the obvious candidate but they also already have Giordano, Oleksiak, and Dunn at LD and that's with less than half the picks leaked. Although of course there could be some flips here.

This feels like that NBA draft from a few years ago where Woj leaked the picks 2 minutes before the picks were made. Who thinks that's good content? Why would Sportsnet ruin the drama of something they're airing?
