2017 eh?  So on Toronto's 100th anniversary of having an NHL team we get a second team?  Who wants to lay odds that the new Toronto team wins a cup before the Leafs?

I'll lay odds that Toronto will never have a second team.

That non existent team will probably still win the Cup before the Leafs!  BA-BOOM!

I'd rather stick with the Leafs, Cup win or no Cup win.  :)

On a side note, does anyone really believe this report? Does anyone think that the NHL will have decided to go into cities that don't have arenas like Seattle and Toronto? Or that they'd expand without a public bidding process?

For what it's worth, Seattle does have an available arena that can seat 15K+ that could be used until a better facility is built.

I was a season ticket holder for the Thunderbirds for a number of years.  I always enjoyed Key Arena for seeing games.  It's a nice arena, the ice is pretty good and the area can accommodate a lot of traffic.  Crowds for the games were usually in the 5-6K range, and more around 10K when Portland was in town and the backing for the team was pretty good.  The Everett Silvertips are down the road and draw in the same range I believe.

Based on nothing scientific at all, I think the support for a NHL team would be strong in Seattle and there are worse venues than the Key as an interim location.

Ahem, the Black Knights??  How about the High Rollers!
