Let's hope this time around the Jays can make up some ground here at Tropicana Field against the Rays.  Hardest hitting Jay right now is Steve Pearce having come off three homeruns in six at bats in the previous series against the Yankees.  If only the Blue Jays could match the red-hot Pearce would be a boon for some added luck againdt a team,  (and a stadium),  that has given the Jays the creeps this year.

Blue Jays 8  Rays 4

There's something about Teopicana Field that seems to bring out the best in the Blue Jays' Kendrys Morales, who hit two home runs including five RBis in the Jays lopsided victory  Heck, if Morales performed like this a little more often, he might make Jays fans forget about Edwin (you know who he is/was).

Justin Smoak also contributed with the long ball as Aaron Loup got the win relieving starter Francisco Liriano in the third inning.  The Blue Jays (10-19) did not reach the twenty losses threshold (thus avoiding becoming the first team in the league to do so). 

For Jays skipper Gibbons the explosion of the Jays bats was sweetness itself:

"A couple of big shot we needed",  manager John Gibbons said.  "We've been saying all along, our guys hang around and tbey make a run at it. They don't always win, but they always make a run."

Blue Jays 1  Rays 6

Bue Jays startig pitcher Marco Estrada's game has been steaduly improving but it wasn't quite evident here against the Rays.  Of all of tge teams the Jays have played  this year on the road, Tropicana Field has been rather unkind to him.
Estrada was nailed for five runs including a three RBI homer by former Jay Colby Ramus.  The loss spelled number 20 and made the Jays the first team in the league this year to lose 20 games.

For the first time this season  the Blue Jays have taken a series  on the road. The Jays also took the series at home recently against this same Rays team

Also, it was  the first time in his career  that the Jays reliever Joe Biagini was began as the starter.  Biagini impressed giving up one earned run after three innings.  Taking turns, the Jays bullpen of Tepera, Smith and Osuna shut down the Rays the rest of the way.

It's worth noting that the Jays bullpen has not given up a run in more than thirteen innings, something that was beginning to look unthinkable a while ago. Things are finally turning around for the Blue Jays and with good measure.

Darwin Barney gave the Jays the lead with a solo homerun.
