Series 40: Tigers at Jays

Good luck to opposing teams hoping to catch this team on an off day. Cause even if Donaldson isn't hitting you still have Tulo, Bautista, Edwin and vice versa.

Shaking up the line up today. Revere is leading off followed by JD , Bautista,Edwin and then Tulo.

I like it.  Especially with Revere hitting like he is right now.

Reveres first week was so not good. Now the guy is a revelation and I liked his after game interview, seems like  a cool dude and good clubhouse presense.

The jays don't need any favours. The division is in their hands at this point. They have no one to blame but themselves if they don't win it.

Somebody paid money for a Thole jersey.  Wow.  Speaking of whom, he just got sent down to make room for Hutch pitching today.

Rosters expand from 25 to 40 on September 1st and they needed room for Hutch before that. Most teams don't carry 3 catchers. Smart move sending him to rookie ball though. If he had been sent to AAA, he would have had to stay for 10 days minimum or until the Bison's season ended. Rookie league season ends on the 1st so he'll be back a week sooner if needed to cover for Martin.

The Jays need to "just" play .500 ball the rest of the way to end up with 90 wins. Pretty amazing considering where they were a mere 30 games ago.

I was wondering about EE and the home run cycle. I read that no one has ever done that at the major league level, but someone did it at AA.

After his solo home run in the first inning yesterday, he had hit one of each type of home run in only 6 at bats - I wonder how that stacks up in the history books...

Buehrle's struggled his last few starts but he's up to 14 wins and 179 innings now.  Has a pretty reasonable shot at keeping his 10 wins/200 innings pitch streak going.  I would imagine that if Stroman makes it back into the rotation that he might spot start for Buehrle at some point.

I think his struggles are being overblown a little bit. He had a couple mediocre starts, but he pitched fairly well yesterday. He's slowing down a little in terms of stamina, but he still looks like he's capable of putting in 6 strong innings almost every time he takes the mound. They may try to give him an extra day of rest if possible, but I doubt they skip his spot in the rotation or sub Stroman in for him.

Yeah. Some help would be nice, and it would obviously make things more comfortable, but the Jays control their own destiny at this point.

I was at the game yesterday and it was a lot of fun! I haven't been to a game at the Dome that full AND loud since the early 90s, certainly brought back some good memories. There is a downside to success though as the food lines are now ridiculously long and you pretty well have to camp overnight and rush the doors for the giveaways. This new security stuff is garbage too, the terrorists have won! I nearly got my bum probed for forgetting my sunglasses case in my pocket!  :-[

Jays lose but pretty much every team behind them also lost including the Yankees so pretty much the best case scenario for one of the inevitable losses on the season.  David Price takes his first loss as a Blue Jay.
