The Blue Jays having come off a on the losing side (2-1)of their concluding game against the LA Angels yesterday and thus the hopes of splitting the series eluded them, including some more umpire troubles that saw Jays' manager John Gibbons ejected for the second game in a row.

Umpire Terry Basher is obviously not a Blue Jays fan, not that he needs to be in any way, but his very questionable calls surely left the Jays and their fans with a bad taste in mouth, so to speak.  Anyways, putting that to one side and getting on, the Jays hope to initiate better results against the St.Louis Cardinals.  Let's hope they do.

Blue Jays 6  Cardinals 5    11th

Nutty, strange, weird, unexpected, plus a "Superman" dive that was and will be the talk of the town.

First off, the Blue Jays playing a National League team, the St.Louis Cardinals, obviously needed to adjust their roster.  With Donaldson and Tulowitzki on the DL and Sanchez still not at a hundred percent (though he started throwing practice pitches coming off the DL), the Jays decided to use catcher Russell Martin at third base (don't laugh) with backup catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia taking Martin's place back there.

In case you can't wait to know, whatever roster tweaks the Jays pulled, everything worked in their favour, well almost, as not only Martin, but pitcher-turned-pinch hitter Marcus Stroman hit a double to pace the Jays to the winning run in the 11th.

Now about Coghlan.  With Kevin Pillar hitting a shot that hit the right-field fence, and with the ball still bouncing, Chris Coghlan ran around the bases and in attempting to evade a ready Yadier Molina the Cardinals' catcher at home plate, Coghlan initiated what everyone is labelling as the dive or jump of the year -- literally diving/jumping over the head of Molina and land hand first on home plate.

Talk about baseball histrionics and that is it.  All of it in the seventh inning.

The good part about the Jays' win is that bats were flying everywhere.  They got contributions from the order meaning clutch performances from guys like Bautista, Martin, Pillar, and of course, Stroman.

Crazy game, indeed.

Yep, that was a weird one. Hopefully it's interpreted as some sort of divine intervention and gets them going. Harness the power of the unicorn and run with it.

Blue Jays  4  Cardinals 6  11  (Game 1)
Blue Jays 4    Cardinals 8        (Game 2)

Bummer!  A grand slam sunk the Jays in the 11th inning of Game 1.
Game 2 was practically a write-off from the get-go, with the Cardinals up early 3-0.

Not worth reading about. Oh well...
