Sharks @ Leafs - Dec. 3rd, 7:00pm - SN, TSN 1050

Leafs lost 5 straight at one point last season and people were talking doom and gloom back then as well.  We'll see if the wheels completely fall off this time.

It's not just about the 4 (probably 5) straight that we've lost though. I don't think I would need more than one hand to count the number of 60-minute games this team has put in this season. As much as goaltending and maybe luck saved us last season, the team wasn't playing nearly as bad then as they are now.

And yet the team is still above .500, much better than they were for the past decade. Strange times.

.500. Playoffs. Keep using these words while you can folks. Maybe another week or two.

They didn't play well after that despite winning - they were playing much like now and relying on elite goaltending and a high SH%.  We've seen the last month and a half what happens when the SH% regresses.  They're either going to have to completely change the way they've played for a quarter of the season or they will be in trouble - last season there weren't many games left so a bit of luck was all the team needed.  There's 50-some left now, hard to maintain a lucky streak without the team fundamentally changing how it's been playing.

Take away the shootout, and they'd be 11-10-6. A loss tonight would mean they've won exactly 50% of their games. In fact, at this point, they've won 11 of 22 games that haven't gone to a shootout. They're already essentially a .500 team.

Look at Det, the have more OTL, I dont think it is fair to use that stat anymore.

The difference that Detroit hasn't won a single game with the help of the shootout. They've won 14 of 24 that have ended in regulation or in OT.

I'm almost afraid to watch.  Hoping Leafs don't get 'roasted' by the surging Sharks.  It's possible though, the Leafs will play one of their better (best) games in awhile.  Hope, hope, hope... (*sigh*)

McLaren-McClement-Orr. Is Carlyle seriously going to keep putting this kind of crap on the ice. Its no wonder we cant win any more.

You know we're into dark days when even nutman is ripping the team.  :-\

I've missed several games, but I wonder whether it couldn't be done on two fingers: the first game against Pittsburgh and the second one against Edmonton. Any other contenders?

Well, interesting

If you count Marleau, the Sharks have 4 centres that are head and shoulders above our best centre.

And Yet with all that talent they have never made it passed the second round of the playoffs. Just saying

They made it to the 3rd round twice.

On the brightside, this could be Randy Carlyle's last game.

WOW LOL, has there been rumors of him being fired.

Just wishful thinking and a voodoo doll on my part.

And Whom would be his replacement.
