Montreal are all about shot quantity over shot quality. They never really feel super threatening, but because they put so many pucks towards the net, some go on.

On the spectrum of the boring trap/counter playstyle:
Offensive: Islanders ---- Montreal -------------- Columbus efensive

Montreal has no star depth and they're not defensive enough systematically to nullify it for very long outside of Danault-Gallagher. For all the balanced minutes they gave the forwards in the first three series, they also played the poop out of their top 4 D, so that's coming home to roost now.

Tampa is that good.

I think it's more the latter than the former but there are elements of both. Tampa is, with Kucherov, probably the most talented team top to bottom in the league and when everything isn't going right for Montreal they're pretty ordinary.

I seem to jinx the team I wanna see win, so I intentionally haven't been watching the final because I don't wanna jinx the Lightning. I'm not a Tampa fan, but I hate montreal with a burning passion. Hope this ends Monday night.
