What a guy Kaberle is, too - telling Sundin he wished he had won the Cup in Toronto.

... very, very loosely related to Sundin - didn't think it was worth it's own thread but it's a nice story
Indeed it is.
It seems crazy that he can wear an insulin pump during games but I guess it's not dangerous to do so.

sneaky about it.

I'd definitely welcome him around the ACC on a daily basis. I'd make him director of player personnel or something to that effect.

The blog being referred to on that board was posted late last season, making his reference to "next season" this
season.

Sure, but really who cares what his title is? I'm sure there is enough management around to insulate him, even if he is totally inept, which I don't think he would be anyway. It's not like he'd be making decisions alone or ones that would really effect the organization. Special assistant sounds honorary or something, like he wouldn't really be working for the team.

It just baffles me that there are still so-called fans of the Leafs who harbor ill-will towards this guy. I'm not naive, nobody is perfect, but every public utterance Sundin makes just reinforces my respect for him. He (and Kabs, for that matter) wanted nothing more than to finish out as a Leaf, and to win a Cup with the Leafs. Yet he harbors no vindictiveness at all.
He seems like a person I would genuinely like to be around.
And good grief, Brian Burke, I hope you are paying attention and embrace Mats' offer to "do anything" for the team, right now.

His good friend Tomas Kaberle faced the same decision last winter when the Maple Leafs asked the defenceman to waive his no-trade right to go to the Boston Bruins. After holding out for a while, Kaberle agreed and wound up winning a Stanley Cup as a rental player before moving on to the Carolina Hurricanes.
Sundin said Kaberle told him ?he wished he won the Cup for the Toronto Maple Leafs.?
You know... that quote kinda made me sad.

They were bland and boring... unlike Mats!
Sundin looks proud of those teeth. Didn't he have a 1/4 inch gap between each one when he entered the league?CarltonTheBear said:hockeyfan1 said:Floyd said:God, those jerseys were dreadful.
