He (and Kabs, for that matter) wanted nothing more than to finish out as a Leaf, and to win a Cup with the Leafs. Yet he harbors no vindictiveness at all.
He seems like a person I would genuinely like to be around.
And good grief, Brian Burke, I hope you are paying attention and embrace Mats' offer to "do anything" for the team, right now.

Which was in August, next season then would mean this current season now, would it not?
I'd prefer next season as I am tied up with work pretty much all season and can only make it to Toronto once this season compared to 6 times last season

Agreed. Two guys who obviously loved the heck out of this team, but unfortunately never got the chance to go all the way with them. It also hurts a little to see such loyal Leafs have their reputations tarnished a little by some fans at the end of their time with the team.
