Tank Nation: Matthews Edition

Nothing could symbolize those lines as well as that pic you posted. Well done, sir, well done!  :D

Spent 5 minutes looking at pictures of tanks to find just the perfect one. Time well spent IMO.

I'm making a collection of tank picture links for GameThread reactions to a variety of situations for the rest of this season.

This is for every time we win a game:

This one is for the run-up to those games against Edmonton or Columbus. I think it needs a 'Come at me, Bro' caption.

I watched Leaf Lunch today, they were discussing if TO won the lottery (ain't gonna happen, I know) what they might do. One suggestion was trade Matthews to Arizona if they were in the top five for Dvorak(Marner's center on London) and then draft Tkuckuk(sic)(Domi's replacement on London this year). Button feels that both Dvorak and Tkuckuk are studs, maybe not Matthews good but undoubtedly top 6 maybe even top 3 forwards of the future. Interesting, TO entertained offers for the 4th last year and actually did trade down with Nashville's choice so this is a possibility.

I see the prick is the ultimate authority on all things about hockey and definitely Leafs. I'm getting the vibe he's the preeminent expert of the draft, McKenzie, Button, Cox might as well roll over and die, Hunter poor Hunter if he makes any mistake I'm certain the prick will personally reprimand him, I also see he's the only person that could draw up a team plan or strategy regarding draft choices so I assume he's the only one that can make trades, hire ass. GMs, GMs, ass. coaches, equipment managers and probably even parking valets.

He's an incredible asset or is he Nonis trolling this site?

I hope that Shany, Lou and Hunter are in tune with this site because self righteous bast... like the prick probably are armed in case people are unwilling to bow to him.

If you don't believe me just ask him or even better argue with him or the topper express your own opinion.

Hey hobarth, I get you might not like people disagreeing with your opinions, but that's not an effective way to defend your position (or the honour of Craig Button, as it were).

I would add, Hobarth, that your posts don't typically have a conversational or even friendly feel to them. They're usually blustery and argumentative. Like Archie Bunker, or Oscar the grouch. You'd probably find the dialogue more enjoyable if you make it a little more friendly.

Oh yes it is, that's the most civil thing the prick said to me today, he's intentionally intimidating to some I'm sure. I won't put up with it.

I merely stated I agreed with Button, with reasoning, the prick, the Leafs will never trade that choice, he's entitled to his opinion as we all are, so instead of such a harsh, unsubstantiated rebuttal he should tone it down.

For the record, nobody is trading the Matthews pick, nobody. Especially to drop to 4.

If they are at 4 though, do they take Tkachuk or Nylander?  Both have some ties to the organization in some way.  Hunter probably knows Tkachuk, and Nylander probably knows his brother.

There's a reason Craig Button isn't a GM anymore.  If the Leafs won the lottery and traded it?  C'mon....

Isn't a GM and hasn't been interviewed for a GM is position in years. You never even hear him as a name being considered.

It's certainly a fair question, reminds me a lot of the Strome vs. Marner discussion just a tad. Hunter won out there, but his ties to Tkachuk are not nearly as strong (you could say they're even non-existent). At 4 though personally I probably lean toward Chychrun a bit. It'd be nice to get another stud blue line into the organization.

It's the " Bride of Frankenstein " hairdo...just isn't taken seriously....

Trading the #1 pick when there's a clear cut #1 selection hasn't happened, I'm sure, in the last 30 years. It may have happened at some point in the 70's but it's just the sort of thing that doesn't happen.

Guy Lafleur.  But I think that trade happened before the positions were known.
