The 2014-2015 Toronto Raptors Thread: Why Not Us?

The DeAndre Jordan Clippers-Mavs scenario is reaching ultimate levels of hilarity.  He gets cold feet on leaving the Clippers but after reconsidering schedules another meeting with the Mavs...and then refuses to answer their phone calls or talk to his agent.  Meanwhile Doc Rivers and several of the Clippers players are hanging out in his house waiting for midnight.

This article is literally one of the unintentionally funniest things I've ever read

http://espn.go.com/dallas/nba/story/_/id/13224498/deandre-jordan-took-coward-way-decision-not-sign-dallas-mavericks

Emotionally, this franchise might never recover from Jordan's decision to re-sign with the Los Angeles Clippers, which, sources told ESPN, could be completed as early as Thursday morning at his house in Houston.

...

Every MFFL -- Mavs Fan for Life -- has the right to boo him as long and as loud as they can until the day he retires.

...

Without Jordan, who led the league in rebounding last season, the Mavs are a raggedy team with no assets worth mentioning. It's the worst place a franchise can find itself, because it can no longer sell hope.

...

This franchise had a heck of a 15-year run, but it's over. Jordan was supposed to be the link to the future, a piece the Mavs could build around.

Instead, he'll forever be known as the man who destroyed the franchise.

I especially like "Without Jordan this team is a pile of garbage" and not linking that to, you know, why Jordan maybe changed his mind.

In all of the DeAndre Jordan excitement I completely missed that the Raptors apparently signed Luis Scola:

Raptors sign Scola to one year deal

I really like the acquisitions the Raptors made.  Scola's old but he's a better defensive rebounder than Amir and actually a pretty good passer.  He's not going to reliably give 20-25 minutes every night but as a backup big he's a nice asset and comes in at a very reasonable salary.

Casey and the Raptors appear to be doubling down on the Valanciunas will not play in the 4th quarter strategy if Casey's interviews this offseason are to be taken seriously.  I just don't get it.
